Like one poster said shoving advertisments at us under the guise of information cheapens the game product and generally annoys your player base.

Just like those pesky television ads interrupting your favorite show every 8-10 minutes. Absolutely intolerable!

We pay $15/month (some people more) for our subscription. We pay $30-$80 per month for our cable subscriptions. Either way we still get advertising. Its not like it puts the advertisement in your face and makes you wait 30 seconds before getting in to game. Its ok to ignore it, hit the "Close" button and move on. Remember.. that advertising and its revenues are funding the game you play.

I have to hit 3 buttons on my remote to skip commercials during Heroes. Twice on FF.. then Play again after I've skipped the commercials.. I have to do this several times over a period of 40 minutes. In game, all I have to do is hit "Close".. once.

Slight correction: The advertising and revenue from LoN and Station Cash are NOT funding Everquest II.  They are funding LoN and Station Cash.  Remember, when they lauded Station Cash as a great success a week after launch, they hired a new Station Cash dev team.  LoN likewise has its own dev team.  The money from these goes to paying for their own development.

Or do you also think that by buying the new Dyson Ball vacuum, you're directly contributing to the story development and casting of House?

edit: Oh, and the $30-$80 per month for cable would be equivalent to the fee we pay our ISP - gives us access to the networks the same as our ISP gives us access to the internet.  Whatever advertisements are airing are scheduled by the network, just like whatever pop-ups or ads in webpages are done by the domain owner.  The EQ2 subscription is equivalent to a Netflix subscription - and Station Cash is like them providing a movie and saying "Oh, it has special features too!  Nothing essencial to the movie, but they look neat.  Extra $5 for each of those you want to see, please."
