As a matter of fact, (this being the following morning ) I've installed everything I want to run and will be patching for a while no doubt.
Last night I Did reinstall Vanguard and sat through about 2 hrs of udates and some File Compiling thing that was offered to me at the Character screen once I logged in. Not a hitch. Two minutes in the game on my monk *and that's generous timewise... the Screen tinted over with a shade of red I guess and stipled with pixelation > black screen > reboot.
I went directly to the Even Viewer under My Computer/Manage and cut'n pasted this:
