Yep, I know this.... I was actually considering going 64-bit the next time I wipe the gaming machine... I haven't tested it suffiently with a virtual machine, but have no reason to believe there'd be any issues.
Both of my machines are 64-bit, and the only problems I see are with weird old hardware that doesn't have proper drivers: my USB to RS232 adapter, my Xbox memory card reader thing, and my ancient scanner. None of them are really supported by the manufacturers anymore, but I haven't gotten around to replacing them because the once a year I used each of them doesn't warrant it.
