I'm almost fully KoS fabled, so I felt quite confident taking stuff down in RoK. But I found things a bit tougher than I expected. It seems the mobs hit harder in this zone than mobs of a similar level in bonemire or loping plains. Or could it be that I've become too used to fighting blue mobs of 3 levels or so below me, and that fighting even cons is harder than I remember? Very difficult to say. One thing that suggests it must be the mobs (rather than recalling the past through rose-tinted spectacles) is the equipment in RoK seems a LOT better. This probably means the new zones represent a step up in class and difficulty, and the new equipment on offer is one of the safest ways to make the transition to T8. The bad news is that my fabled gear will soon be outdated, but the good news is I guess it will be easy enough to get myself kitted out in better.Whether the fights seem harder as a result of memory or harder content, one thing I do know from fighting these RoK mobs is that healing suddenly seems more important again. A combination of reactives, stuns and dazes seem to do the trick for me, with the occasional hammer smite-direct heal combo if things get too hair raising. The 2 extra attacks I got are also useful; I got a new one from the erudite racial tree and the other from diverting AA points from smites in EoF tree to the KoS intelligence line. Diverting the AA points has increased my casting speed by 12% or so, therefore lessening the impact of losing casting speed from smites while also increasing my casting speed across the board, which in turn improves my curing, healing etc. In other words, a net increase in all my abilities (and I can always stick the points back in smites as I gain AA levels). It seems to be working so far, but I would nevertheless hate to be taking on a ^^^ heroic if these are the soloable encounters. Still, time will tell
