There are EU servers and US servers, they COULD maintain them at different times, but they don't, that's why we complain!
Some people reckon that it's unreasonable for us to expect SoE people to come in at night to do these updates, but actually it's not unreasonable at all and in fact I'd be surprised if the server farms DON'T have people monitoring them 24 hours a day.
