I posted this on another thread. I think it's a better method of transmuting than the one we currently have:
If Transmuting were user-friendly, when 'muting an item a box would pop-up and ask what you want the outcome to be: treasured item = (select from powder or fragment) ~ legendary item = (select from powder, fragment, infusion)...etc.
Having selected which item you want from your transmute, the game does a skill check and you either succeed and get the item you wanted; or you fail, and get a randomly assigned powder or fragment irrespective of item type (treasured - fabled). Or even, for the hard-core among us, if you fail your skill check you get NOTHING!!)
Seems to me that we're not really transmuters but gamblers. From my perspective, a transmuter would have a pretty good idea what they were going to get from an item, and the better their skill, the more likely they'd be right!
