Something interesting I discovered.

These people want "Titles" removed

-Ammemti - 63 Wizard - Treasured gear (No Title) 881 Heat resists

-Convict - 31 Assassin - Steel Mastercrafted Gear (No Title) 119 Str

-Tseek - 33 Monk - Engraved Armor (Destroyer) 106str 90agi

-Chai - Unknown Brigand - Unknown gear (Hunter)  unknown stats

I want titles, in their present form, removed too.  I have some toons with titles, some without.  In my experience, titles reward people who are good at ganking and running away when the odds are anything other than a certain sub-second victory.  Personally, some of my best PVP memories are solo and small group encounters where everyone stayed until the bitter end - fights that end with the victor down under 1% health are my favorite, they get the blood pumping!  The way things are today, people who have titles and fight that way don't keep them for long, hence the game of evergank and everchase we play now.  I theorize that if titles were removed, people would be less inclined to run away from evenly matched fights.  I can also imagine a way to adjust the title system to actually encourage people to seek out challenging encounters - SOE could adjust infamy/fame increases to be more in-line with rewarding skillful players.

One example would be to take into account level differences and number of people in the encnounter when determining infamy/fame gain/loss.  For example, a raid size force (grouped or ungrouped) would get nothing for attacking a solo player, and the solo player would lose nothing; while fighting equally leveled and numbered opponents would yield a bonus to fame/infamy.  I say grouped or ungrouped because I can't count the number of times I've taken massive infamy hits from ungrouped players just hanging around looking to tag a quick and easy infamy hit off someone going down.  Is it really a reflection of skill on either side when a person traveling to/from his group gets killed by 50 people who attack? However, on the contrary, if a group of 40 folks attacks a solo con player, and he manages to take some of them out before going down, that player should get oodles of fame/infamy for his heroic performance.

Another change I'd make is to add the ability to lose massive amounts of infamy when killed by someone out of your title range and to gain massive amounts of infamy when you kill someone outside your title range.  For example, I kill orange con destroyers, champions, etc. all the time on my (presently) unranked bruiser and get nothing.  If these folks with titles were actually as skilled and masterful at pvp as their title indicates, wouldn't this warrant a big impact on a lowly unranked "nub" like me?  Afterall, I just overcame insurmountable odds to beat the champion, right?  Shouldn't I at least be a ranked contender or gain the title after winning the fight?

If just these two changes were made, titles would start to reflect something meaningful in PVP, and it would start to require tactics and skill to obtain and maintain titles.  Some people with titles are all ready are quite good at PVP; I think this change would quickly seperate the folks who are legitamately good from those who are just in the right place at the right time, and/or are good at the gank/running away game the current system encourages.
