Since the patch to take away the interdependencies for sub-components I don't see much of a change as far as profits go. What has changed is what you sell on the broker. Before you would simply grind out subs and sell them on the broker. Now, you have to create all your own subs and then create the finished items and sell the finished items on the broker. I do believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. First of all this makes you much more efficient in gaining trade skill experience. Simply grind the sub-component recipes, which are lower level then the finished item recipes, making stacks of them. Then start grinding out the finished items one after the other with all the subs you made. Do this and you will level up very fast and make good coin off the broker.
I also read on the test server update notes that they are testing a 60% profit from doing workshop tasks. This will be good for everyone as the crafter will make coin as well as level up the society.
