I still solo alot, especially on quests, like others in previous threads have mentioned, we are a very safe class to sol, but it comes with the price that it takes awhile to bring down mobs compared to many classes. My rule of thumb is if it is color con and number of mobs alter my choice of weapons. Generally if it is solo that is below yelow i am usually in offense mode with a 2 hander or sword and sheild, if it is green heriocs or blue it is sword and shield and offensive mode switch to defense if it is doing too much damage. Against triple up herioc of green or light blue it is defense mode with sword and shield. If you are Soloing, you may find the stamina and intelligence paths more rewarding than others. More health, increased critical chances on melee/combat arts/spells/procs/heals/wards with a group stun spell and a low power cost 30 meter range spell thrown in. I could probably make a case for the others too but this is just off the top of my head.
Your best mobs will be undead, we are a tank class that has nice bonuses including spells that do double damage to undead, and you will find quicker experience against them versus most other mobs. Find your comfort level on fighting mobs and the rest will fall into place. My experience is that our worse enemies are enemy healers of every stripe(plus later on those damnable shadowknight pets of some mobs). I usually try to take down the healers first then move onto to other ones like mages and scouts. I usually leave the fighters for last. You will find that the higher level you go the more utility you will find and the more dps tools become available for you. Dont believe the negative hype some may say about our class, we are a pretty stable class to play.
