I do not think it is that counterproductive. I almost exclusively use it on Raids where I tank 64+ epic named mobs.My block rate is trash against yellow epics. Whether I lose 2% displayed block rate or not. I use it for damage spikes... when I am down in orange/red to help the healers catch up.I COULD equip a t1 tower shield, i wouldn't care... I want 3 absorbed attacks (with luck I parry anyway - better chance than blocking).
