I did Freezing Whorl and Painful Med and I never regretted it.Freezing Whorl Adept 3 will max out at 52ish per tick.Painful Med Adept 3 will return about 150 mana for 100 health and I still use it...

I would go with Freezing Whorl then Painful Med. Both will have replacement spells Discretionary Flow and Icy Coil at 28 and 30 respectively but they are both very useful in the meantime.
