Well for veksar im pretty sure they are talking about your water breathing stone. The ae from the mobs make you drown and if you have water breathing it negates it.

Adept 2 were in the game before LU 13 if i remember corectly as a specialized spell you could pick.  They were such a better option than the current master 2s as the also added an extra effect.
