A couple ideas might be upping the increments...

A couple ideas might be upping the increments and/or increasing the number of ticks to graverot. This would allow more ticks before increments get reset or written over...lowering the proc rate...

I dont think you can go wrong with either abate or pestilence. I think its only a 3% difference between M1 and M2, so I would go with whichever is the most expensive M1 on your broker.
