Riposte is a contested def skill and should not be considered as a major point of a plate tanks chances of going splat. Any mod with a strike though buff will smack you no matter what your riposte is...

Default is 100/0 split. Some people like do aa at earlier levels some prefer later. There is no right answer were you should have your split at. That is a personal choice.

Sounds like the 2nd item is the one that casts "minor illusion" which makes it so you can't move. Turning illusions on from the character sheet should fix it.
