I am pretty sure I stuck with MC gear from 60-70. Finding groups to do the heroic content was tough, so I solo'd, to 80 actually. Once you hit RoK the quest gear is pretty good stuff.

Never. In groups it is 99% mage and 1% scout for me. Solo'ing with the tank pet was great, but it is useless in a group unless your tank is horrible and your groups wants the pet as a backup tank.
