-   -   Some trait selection help for a Dwarf at Level 16 (I think). (https://archive.eq2wire.com//showthread.php?t=95223)

I'm almost level 19 now but haven't picked my last set of character traits as a Dwarf and am wondering just what would benefit me the most in the long run.  I picked a stamina boost last time thinking it would be the best to give me more power/health, but it wasn't as effective as I thought it would be (worthless in the case of power increase) and I kind of regret it. Basically, the real choices from this line would be the divine damage proc, +2 (or +3 maybe?) strength, +3% health pool increase, and the thing that sounds the most interesting, +5 defense. Any suggestions for this and any other trait selection opportunity would be greatly appreciated, thank you. <div></div>

i always go for dmg or anything i dont have to cast, (permanent ones) the reason i always pick dmg is becouse no matter what situation you use it but then agian the changes are coming so if you make a bad choice, you cna re-do it later <div></div>

<DIV>My preference is to go with enhansements that are permanent.  The health or power pool bonus or the defense increase would be good choices.  Not having a dwarf, I do not know if the defenese increase is a enhansement or a short term buff.  The damage procs that are offered to the various races are disappointing.  They usually have short durations with LONG reuse timers.  Just make sure it is an enhansement that permanently changes you and not the one that is just a short term buff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Thanks for the responses all, and while I haven't had any luck digging through the internet to find a list of all the traits and traditions so I could verify which were permanent and which were temporary powers, I've noticed some say "an augmentation placed upon you that...".  Are those the temporary ones? <div></div>

Now for the choice, it all depends on what you wish to do. If you intend to be the tank in most situations the +5 defense would be your choice. Also, the race specific traits are given every x levels, and a choice you've made before isn't available the next time you get to pick a trait. Good ones are: 5% health increase +5 defense (skill, so making you virtually 1 level higher for mitigation when tanking) +STR</span><div></div>

+5 Defense.

agree with the defense choice.  as far as +5%hp go, remember that when tanking, the bulk of your hps come from heals, rather than from your initial hp pool.  in a long fight, you'll be healed enought that you probably could have gone through your hp pool 10 times over, so +5%hp is actually like 0.5% extra hps that you can take in the fight.  +5 Defense will reduce your damage taken by far more than the extra hps. <div></div>

Out of the above choices the +5 to defense makes more sense.  At end game, with that and Benediction running you tank like a L53 tank (defense wise) <div></div>

<P>Sorry to spy on the Paladin boards...But I think us Dorf's oughta stay together.</P> <P>DON'T TAKE THE DIVINE DAMAGE PROC...IT'S GARBAGE.</P> <P>I took it the first time around...and it was the main reason I had to respec...just BRUTAL!</P> <P>The defense is nice, as is the health bonus...the stamina's perty good too.  Anyone ever picked the drinky-drink one?</P>

yes, summon T1 drink ... pretty useless <div></div>
