I've noticed the last several times I went out to harvest (trying for essence of magic to craft the new VII version of the orange runes (champion, glory, juxtaposition, etc) and while I couldn't say exactly how long it's been, but ever since I finished the tradeskill signature quest, I've not had a single rare harvest. Has something changed that I'm missing?

I'm out harvesting and just shy of 30 minutes, I have: <br />3 sapphire; 3 golden fleck; 12 needlescale hides; 3 casium root; and, 8 arborian wedge.<br />Bad luck run for you would be my guess, however it does seem extra bad.<br /> <br />I am wearing harvesting gear mixed in with adv gear. 89% BH, 29% rare harvest chance.

I'm not wearing any harvest gear when I do this. However, I wasn't wearing any prior to completing the signature line and I had rare harvests without issue. Lots of them, in fact. Does anyone know if there's a soft cap or something on the number of rare harvests any given toon can have? Like, once hitting the soft cap, the rare harvests are not as frequent? I'm a compulsive harvester and I've often switched toons once rare harvests started slowing down, but I don't know if I was just imagining that or not.

I've never ever heard of them soft capping your rare chance based on how many you've already gotten.<br /> <br />They *may*, and that is a really big may, have tuned the rare rate down a little from where they originally set it for testing, since there are more things that give rare harvest chance now (such as saddles, and hackamore, specifically) and they don't want us totally swimming in rares, but other than your rare harvest chance stats, the only thing that should be truly impacting your rare rate is the RNG, and we all known Bristlebritches likes to muck with our RNG's at odd times. <img src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" alt="Smile" />

I've been watching this, and am currently on a random alt in her default adventuring loadout, no fancy mount gear, potions, etc.<br /> <br />She has a 14% rare harvest chance, and a 35% bountiful harvest, and has been raking in the rares hand over fist in Doomfire while on the crafting quest.<br /> <br />I'm not sure why you're not seeing them, but I've got almost 2 dozen from the 44 minutes I've been online, and I've only been harvesting about 1/3 of the time. :O

I guess it's just a run of rotten luck then. It's not the first time I've noticed something like this either. I usually only harvest with my main character, since she's got all the bells and whistles in harvest gear, and she's gotten thousands of rares over the years. If I switch to an alt that I don't normally harvest with, that toon will rake in the rares like mad.
