<DIV>I finally made it to lv 20 last night did the monk quest and all is well.. or so i thought.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>While doing a quick run through on my skills list i saw that piercing and slashing were way down in comparison to crushing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The annoying part of this is.. i bought a pair of piercing fist weapons only to be told that in fact there crushing. And most of the piercing weapons i cant use because my skill is to low.  To make matters worst slashing weapons are out of this world in price... the cheapest ones on my server are going for 52 silver a piece and i couldnt get them until lv 20.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How in gods name are we suppose to raise this skill if the first available weapons to use are at lv 20.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now money wise i dont have 1g to spend on piercing or slashing weapons but i need to get this seeing as how most named or ^^ mobs are sometimes immune to crushing damage.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is there any quests that give us slashing or piercing weapons as a reward.  And how do i go about getting low lv slashing or piercing duel weild weapons to raise my skill since the ones on the brooker are to high for me to use.</DIV>

As pointed out in the FAQ and a few other threads, brawlers no longer use any skill other than crushing.  If you equip cestus you will do piercing damage, if you equip cestii you will do slashing damage, but the only skill checked (and the only one that you can increase) is crushing.

<P>ok... so how do i increase my skill in slashing and piercing if the only 2 weapons that would do so ( as discribed in examaning them on the brooker or what catagory there under ) do crushing damage.</P> <P>That means i dont have any options to raise my slashing or piercing skill using duel weild weapons.  Am i right ?</P>

Gaige 10-24-2005 08:44 AM

<P>No, you're wrong.</P> <P>The cestus and cestii do not do crushing damage.  The examine window cites the skill required to use, not the damage done.  I assure you that if you equip cestii you'll do slashing auto attack damage, and if you equip cestus you'll do piercing auto attack damage.</P>

wushupork 10-24-2005 08:47 AM

<P>Right, you don't have any options. However, the confusion you're having is with the cestus or cestii you will do Piercing/Slashing TYPE damage, however you use your Crushing skill to determine your success. Just consider crushing to = generic hand to hand skill. </P> <P>So you can disregard those two skills completely they have no use for us.</P>

<DIV>ok i think am following what you guys are saying... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And correct me please if am wrong but...  Your saying that piercing and slashing skills dont me anything to monks.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That using weapons from those classes aka.. ( piercing and slashing ) will not increase said skill because there actually doing "Crushing damage".  So buying weapons for those stats is a wash becuase hand to hand does "Crushing damage"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now the other problem am having is getting a pair of cestus or cestii.  When i try to buy them off the brooker there all red.  Message is as follows "You lack the skill to use this weapon" .  Now since they dont require piercing and slashing skills to use is it just a matter of me not being high enough to use them.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I mean in regards to say me being lv 15 and the skill requirement for said weapon is lv 20</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>thanks again for clearing things up ... appreciate all the help</DIV> <P>Message Edited by three on <SPAN class=date_text>10-23-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>10:03 PM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by three on <span class=date_text>10-23-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:04 PM</span>

Gaige 10-24-2005 09:10 AM

<DIV>No.  Cestus do piercing damage.  Cestii do slashing damage.  Period.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the weapons being red to you, you get 5pts of skill per level.  If the cestii is 170 skill to equip, you need lvl 34.</DIV>

<P>I dont know where to look for the skill on the weapon but i do know at lv 20 i cant equip but 1 of them.  Looks like a bowl with spikes.</P> <P>The other ones ( look like a spike with a handle ) cant equip any of them.</P> <P>But a friend did make me some wrist wraps and those work fine.  Plust i use the item reward from the monk quest.  I like that staff ... </P> <P>On another note.. or Armor Quest... do i get those cool looking white Gi pants.  They look so cool.  Still running around in qeynos armor.  blahh</P><p>Message Edited by three on <span class=date_text>10-23-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:14 PM</span>

<P>sweet...  been looking forward to that since lv 1.  </P> <P>Another question... can i complete and wear the rewards from the armor quest right away.  Like if i get my guildmates to help me and i complete all of them and am only say ... lv 22 can i wear the whole suit.  Or is it lv dependant</P> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A great example of what am talking about is doing the monk quest at lv 18 but your not a monk or cant use the weapon until you hit lv 20</DIV><p>Message Edited by three on <span class=date_text>10-24-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:08 AM</span>

<P>Thanks for the info Talen... just dinged lv 21 today doing that quest... are the clerics spawn times as bad as i saw today.  It was like 1 every 5-10 min.</P> <P>And after over a few hr there were times when i went for what seemed like a half and hr or so without seeing one.  This is all for Armor Quest 1.</P> <P>I just hope the others arent so [Removed for Content] boring.  And why in gods name do we need a group to do or AQ but we solo or class quest.  </P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P>Brilliant........:smileymad:</P>

Wait till you have to do AQ 2 and 3, it seems most of the people in my group had the same type of Mobs except me which I found was stupid, AQs 4 and 5 were better, still need that dammed Gi have everything else. Good luck but I thought AQs 2 and 3 were the worst.

You need a group for the Sabertooth Elders, Blightfang Broodtenders, all of AQ3 (which, as stated, is a pain because no one else seems to need or want to have anything to do with the SH Library), and that's about it.  All of the CoB mobs can be found in non-hero form, though it may take a while.  Even Shadowdash, the mob at the end, has been toned down to be soloable (25 down arrow with two 25 triple down arrow).</span><div></div>

just be glad the clerics are visible now. back when i did that quest they were invisible until you got about 10 feet away from them hehe.

<P>yeah i hear ya... started to do AQ2 and thats also a pain.   The wolfs are hard to find but its just a matter of putting in the time to do it.  I just dont like the fact that everything in this has to be group oriented.   And the hard thing like you said is finding people that want to or are willing to go into certain areas to help you complete certain parts of the quest.</P> <P>I just want to get this out of the way and fast but it looks like it might take me more than a week to do it.  I thought i could get this done in a couple days but even belonging to a guild with players around my lv doesnt seem to work out much.  </P> <P>Everyone is always doing something else and for the most part i dont think to many people like the idea of doing there AQ.</P><p>Message Edited by three on <span class=date_text>10-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:56 PM</span>
