- - Idea for Fan Faire.... Grand Banquet Impossible! (https://archive.eq2wire.com//showthread.php?t=645594)

Saroc_Luclin 01-13-2010 07:07 PM

I know there's virtually no chance of this sort of thing happening, but the idea came to me as I was making dinner (and was probably influenced as I was making it).

It just struck me that it would be a really cool idea if we could have a "Dinner Impossible" Grand Banquet at Fan Faire.

Regretfully, I don't know anyone at Food Network who to spring this idea on, and I doubt it could be done... But it just struck me as it might be fun to see on TV sometime next winter Robert challenged to make a dinner for the Fan Faire attendees, making dishes 'themed' to SOE's games... Maybe with Brasse being one of the ones to give him a clue or tell him what the challenge is. (Plus it'd be a huge amount of advertising for SOE and its games. )

Oh well, back to cooking my own very possible dinner for myself.

Love this idea! I don't know how possible it is but I love it! I passed it on to those that organize Fan Faire and I also passed it on to those that write the live quests. So even if it doesn't pan out for real we might be able to pretend right?

Amnerys 01-14-2010 08:22 PM

If Brasse gave him a challenge, it would be, "Forget the food. Fill us up with beer!"

"making dishes 'themed' to SOE's games"

mmmm Batwing crunchies!

lol

This idea is great!

Calthine 01-14-2010 08:51 PM

Instead of buffet, each attendee could receive a Misty Thicket Picnic to munch on.

Dented 01-16-2010 01:04 AM

what a great idea! Maybe some eq2 inspired vegas cocktails to wash it all down?

i am a chef ash, and while i do not wish to cook while on my vacation i can answer some questions - your legal office would probably rule out the option of fan participation because of the use of knives and fire but seeing staff members have to try and make stuff would be funny to watch however if you could get baileys to pay me to tell the chefs there what to make i would galdly do that

What a great idea. And while we are on the subject of food. Most of us were really disappointed at the lack of a birthday cake last year. It's not too late to make amends. FV popping out of a cake and slices or cupcakes for us all would surely do the trick.

yeah, that would be a sweet idea. i like that show.

However, who says that people have to really cook for a live event, last I heard making EQ1 Brownies is kinda violant.

OMG...this would be SO cool.To have " Dinner Impossible" come and cook our grand banquet for us.That man makes some **** good food.I think SOE needs to check this out.Altho I dont remember them/him cooking for such a large crowd. We had how many at last years FF? 4000?Hum...cooking for an SOE convention could be thier biggest yet!!

While most of the time he seems to cook for around 500, he has had a few challenges in the thousand+ range, so it probably isn't that big a deal. If it is possible, I'm sure SOE, Ballys and Food Network would be working out all the details. (And if it isn't possible for Fan Faire, it may be possible for SOE's Open House during Comic Con, but I'd still love to see Fan Faire Impossible. )

Ha! Raijinn and I were just talking about this the other day! Our other idea would be to have Charm City Cakes (aka Ace of Cakes) do a cake for FF. I actually do have a contact there, so it would probably be doable.

That's a great idea OP. I would also ask that they make some vegetarian/vegan friendly themed dishes...and plenty of ale!
