going to amger alot of the free people by finally deciding to do this. if you gave people the option to up their plat cap nobody would have used this in the first place18p at level 90 isnt enough to sneeze without going broke. you really should raise it back up or throw the free to play people a bone since they can no longer trade the repair mats as currency.

|

Repair mats shouldn't be a currency in the first place.

|

i fully understand that they shouldnt be, but SoE spouts out about how you can totally go F2P but at level 90 you can only hold 18 plat. and for a year and 3 months they let players use the repair mats. im gold so it wasnt a problem to me. but i did have alot of people buy stuff off of me using them that no longer will be able to there for less business for me.

|

Looks like SOE had the choice to make the heirloom or set them so they can't be sold for the same amount you buy them for.

Either way something needed to be done to stop them being used as currency. This seems to be the least problematic fix.

|

Maybe so Vin, but here is the thing. They HAVE been, and people had stocked up possibly. I mean really, was SOE losing that much cash from people using these as tender? Is the plat cap what SOE wants to use as the primary driver to get people to sub? Or, is this another case of SOE picking a bad spot to try to squeeze every last drop out of its players by nickle and diming you to death?

Ikoda@Antonia Bayle wrote:

...SoE spouts out about how you can totally go F2P...

No they don't. They say that they are so convinced you will like the game enough to subscribe that they are willing to let you play for free for as long as you need to agree with them.

|

They've been used as currency because many of the higher tier items and rares have been priced over what a bronze/silver member is allowed to hold. Not sure I'm with SoE on this one, specially with taking the harvestables out of the marketplace. Good for business I would guess.

|

An exploit was fixed. Enough said.

|

The original caps were fine for a brand new server. They are a joke on a Live server. A cap of 1-2pp/level is probably needed. It might not be a bad idea to charge SC to increase it though.

Don't let thing going unfixed even when known let you believe it will always be there. If it is a "workaround" then it wasn't intended and plan for the time it will be taken away.

This is still a sub game. SOE will continue to make it hard for people to play for free. We have known this on Freeport for a long time, it's not F2P just a very long free trial. SOE make a lot of money from subscriptions, the plat limit helps keep driving people at high levels to those subscriptions.

They really don't want you at 90 and still playing free.

|

Just create your own guild. No longer a problem.

|

Can't you just switch to something else? Ethereal sandpaper or something? Beats me, I rarely pay attention to stuff like that since I'm a sub. I spend my days mostly forgetting to breathe though.

|

might be able to make a killing for items on the broker at 18p

|

where are you guys reading all this stuff?

i've always thought that 18 plat was too low of an amount. it means that a silver cannot buy a guild hall, even at level 90.

Efficient on bank space.

I know I have guildie who does 100 plat a week in adornment sales. She will be hit hard, but this is closing what was effectively an exploit in a method that means those with huge stocks of pristines won't lose plat.

Some of the ftp restrictions are silly, but suggesting they change item restrictions to make it easier for people to hide plat from the restrictions probably isn't the way to go.

Explain why the straight line plat limit from 1-90 doesn't translate within the game itself. (I agree it doesn't, but you aren't trying to convince me.)

It wouldn't prevent you from going in there after you went back to silver, right? It would effectively be the whole guild's at that point, wouldn't it?

There are other items that can be traded that can be used as currency. While the repair material was probably the easiest and most costly to use, there is tons of other items that I forsee being used in the furture.

DCUO does increments for small amounts. Other F2P games have them from $5 to $10 per character.

You always have to price based on market. Simple business.
