OK...I've had enough of living with this particular issue so I'm just going to pass it back to SOE to deal with!

Ever since I convinced my partner to play EQ2 about a year ago I have been hearing ONE complaint over and over again. The tailored dresses.....one style in a number of colours. Apparently this just isn't good enough. Personally I've never found the need for more than one wardrobe of clothes but this just isn't good enough for the laydees, oh no.

So come on SOE lets have a bit of imagination when designing female formal wear. If you help me out with this I'll do my best to head off the even bigger issue looming on the horizon. Shoes! Apparently the words "shoes" and "enough" are never found in the same sentence when spoken by a woman, unless you count "you can NEVER have enough shoes".

Snowdonia 01-15-2008 05:15 AM

I must rate more as a man when it comes to my shoes. I've got 4 pairs. Thongs (flip flops), tennies (joggers/runners), a pair of wedges I rarely wear but have for whenever I might hit somewhere nice, and a pair of lace up hiking type boots that I rarely wear either.Guess I'm just a practical kinda gal.

Chondrichtheyia 01-15-2008 05:34 AM

I agree with the OP. We need more dress styles!

Iwice 01-15-2008 06:13 AM

I agree, there should be more choises for everyone, especaly when it comes to cloth and leather, its the same thing in different colours kinda. so its realy silly, and with this new awesome appereance system, there should be alot of choises to use it for, not same robe new colour each day

Peysel 01-15-2008 06:31 AM

Pretty please may we have more styles of dresses? The tailored ones are nice colours but 1) there's a nasty bug with them with certain options on that makes them show your undies (ladies don't show their undies in public, don't you know?), and 2) they are all the exact same dress dyed a few hundred colours. No self respecting female wants to wear the exact same dress as another female to the party (raid), it's the butt of jokes in movies and sitcoms, so surely you guys know this already? So please, please, please...may we have some dresses that look different to the others.(I only have a couple of pairs of shoes, but my mother and sisters do the women proud.)

Iwice 01-15-2008 06:36 AM

lol, i know on splitpaw raid mages/healers are dominated by barrierists robe, and the formal thing. and there are some other ones that i forgot the name on, but the point is that everyone is kinda using the same, looks sillyrealy :/ so more choises for the ppl (and yea i include male toons aswell, they should not have to be plauged wiht one style 1000 colours either lol)

Sasandra 01-15-2008 12:05 PM

I definitly agree, the dress we have are ok, but unless you're in a higher level guild that's it since all the 0 stat stuff is stupidly catored toward people in big guild, and even then there's not much more in terms of options.

Oh, and definitly shoes, I need more options, I own like 25 pairs of shoe/boots in RL, almost all heels at that (I really don't like wearing flats unless I have to), I want more shoe/boot options, not to mention the ability to wear them with the dresses we have, it's so iritating that when you put on the dress it overwrites your boots and makes you have bare feet.

Tash 1 01-15-2008 12:18 PM

Yes please all kind of clothes shoes etc.I have almost giving in on this /Hugs Tash

Lakaah 01-15-2008 01:00 PM

I believe my wife has 2 32-slot boxes in her bank full of various drops and whatnot, to use in her appearance slots. She changes what she is 'wearing' almost every day. I doubt there is anything the devs could do that would make her more happy than adding a bunch of nice new clothing items.

Sapphirius 01-15-2008 03:59 PM

Please, oh pretty please, can we have more dress styles? The belted dresses that evil crafters can earn. The NPC dresses we see around town that we know are cloth items because brawlers can get the skirt (see below). Something besides the formal wear and the same tailored dress in 50 color combinations.

As for shoes? In RL, I own 3 pairs: work shoes, dress shoes, and snow boots. (Like Snowdonia, I'm an oddity.) My charcters, however? They like their shoes. They wouldn't be opposed to more.

Wookin 01-15-2008 04:07 PM

Amen! I want more clothing choices! And shoes! (And hair accessories would be fab too!)

Wrapye 01-15-2008 04:38 PM

This all goes back to the design of the skeleton of the models. At present, when an item of clothing is created, a separate model has to be created for each gender of nearly each race (I believe the elves all share one skeleton) - doubled for those races that have an 'alternate model' (SOGA). I remember when the coercer class hat design got held up because of clipping issues with the male erudite alternate model.I'm all for different clothing designs - my tailor would love to make them - but until they have revamped the skeleton models so that far less versions of each piece of clothing needs to be made than they are now, we are stuck with what we have. They announced that they were revamping the skeleton system at Fan Fair in April 2006. It is nearly two years later and some things have been done (I understand the sarnak is the recipient of some of this work) but a revamp of the original races is yet to be seen. I fear that the departure of Lotus, the head dev of the art team, might have further delayed things.

Erithe 01-16-2008 02:55 PM

Wrapye - they've stated that the new skeletons will be out in early 2008. Of course, with the San Diego fires, that might be delayed, like the dungeons and Epics from RoK were. However, they are planning to shift the skeletal system. Yay!In which case, it will be easier for them to create new armor, and we will be able to hopefully have more dress styles!I do wish they'd make those brawler skirts more widely available in the meantime. Those are cute!

Sapphirius 01-16-2008 05:48 PM

I know. I was so disappointed when my druid couldn't get one. The invisible leather handwraps that can be worn by any class that can equip leather are also only available to brawlers.

A simple toggle in some of the appearance slots would be welcome. It would be nice to appear to be bare handed. Rather than checkboxes for headgear and cloak only, have context click options for each of the visible slots, or appearance slots.

How about robes that don't look like they're made from sections of cardboard tubing cut in half when you run? I can't bear to even look at a cloth wearing class in thrid person view. It made me laugh for a few seconds but then I just had to delete him and go back to leather.

Sasandra 02-07-2008 12:10 PM

Sounds like you have cloth simulation turned off cause with it on it at least looks a little bit more like actual fabric.

Unfortunately, I can't remember if it was because they wouldn't do it or because they couldn't do it.

TaleraRis 02-07-2008 10:29 PM

I'm a very simple girl in real life, a jeans-and-sweatshirt-with-the-same-pair-of-hikers everyday sort. Which is probably why I loooooooooove to play dress up with my characters in games. I loved playing around with it on my Imperial Doctor/Carbineer in SWG and I love going to the tailor in CoX and making new alternate costumes for my characters there and I especially love crafting things with my tailor in WoW to make my characters there shiny and pretty. More clothing styles would be loverly.

Daine 02-07-2008 11:01 PM

I would looove more clothing styles. IRL I'm like the rest of you, I wear T-shirts and PJ pants everywhere and have like 4 pairs of shoes. But in game since I don't have to worry about comfort, I want to make my character look GOOD!I always have to wonder why when you wear a dress you can't see what shoes you have on I'd love to see some mix and match clothing or toggle boxes, although I know it's been said they won't happen.

CharSol 02-10-2008 03:26 PM

I know everyone complains about realism in armour and things but I want some sexy stuff for my woman, oh lord how much do I want it. I don't care about realism, I am a very simple girl and when I play my fantasy games I don't want them to be realistic, I want to play dressup like it was in SWG. I want the oportunity to look different every day, not by hiding my womanly curves in a sack cloth dress in various garish colours but by dressing my character up in sexy, womanly clothes and armour.

It pains me that at present I am either covered head to toe in a thick layer of metal or wearing a sack dress that hangs unnaturally around my thighs. If only I could afford the formal wear, it is the most attractive dress/robe outfit I have seen in game, it's not great but it's an improvement most definitely.

Valentina 02-10-2008 11:04 PM

I'd definitely love more fashion options!

MidnightDragon 02-11-2008 12:15 PM

I wouldnt mind having something somewhat feminine to wear with Sarnak Femals. Everythign changes to the male version when you wear it though. Makes no sense, especialy seeing as Iksar females have the same body shape, give or take a few feet of height.

Erithe 02-11-2008 02:38 PM

The art for the EQ2 boxes (before Kunark), always showed the female characters in outfits that showed a little skin, at least. As a caster, I'm always staring longingly at the monk gi's. heh heh ... and now the Bard arms from Kunark (they're so pretty!). In EQ1, the variety wasn't great, but at least the robes didn't look like layers of wool. O.o No one. NO ONE looks good in layers of wool. Ever. ANd a lot of the outfits were a lot less ... erm ... covering in EQ1. Half elves and wood elves, anyone? Now, I'm not suggesting we revert to thongs, but it would be great to see some more casual styles and things that looked a little bit more like regular clothing. I would love to see outfits that looked like whoever designed them had a creative and fun wardrobe at home. or experience with fashion design (at least a little). That's my opinion!

Ace235228 02-12-2008 01:10 PM

As a guy, I can't stand the look of the male tunic that compliments the ladie's dress graphic. I ended up buying a male formal outfit from a status merchant to get away from it, but that only has its appeal for so long. Lately, i've been collecting matching armor suits and making suits match with various color class helmets for my appearance slot... But I refuse to wear what looks like a farmers outfit that the devs have decided is how a noble male should dress.
