So I just recently ordered pretty much a brand new machine off of newegg.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775

EVGA 122-CK-NF63-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX

EVGA 256-P2-N761-AR GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
And 4 gigs of some nice corsair ram.Now I'm building this machine with next gen games in mind, like Age of Conan, which optimizes DX10.So as we all know, in order to use DX10 one must use Vista. Which explains why I went with 4 gigs of ram, because Vista supports more ram (and uses more, I know), than XP.Now obviously there is the memory hole in the 32-bit Vista, that doesn't allow users to use the entire 4 gigs.My question to you guys is should I go with the 64-bit now, while I'm playing EQ2, or would it be better for me to just use the 32-bit for now and upgrade to the 64-bit later?I have access to both, so that isn't the issue.I just want to put this thing together and have the least amount of issues for the time being, as my current computer is on its last leg, due to it being a battle-scarred and patched together 10 year old veteran of a machine. I played EQ1, in '99, on this beast.

You will want to read:

What's with the 3Gb memory barrier?

and

32 or 64 bit Vista?

Pretty much the two best, no-nonsense, layman's technical, and well-researched articles on the two subjects. Daniel Rutter appears to know his stuff, and his articles are always entertaining and informative.

Short answer: you were probably better off with 2 1GB sticks, and you will probably want to install the 32-bit version of Vista. The articles will tell you why.
