so yeah i was out and about on my lvl 70 sk and i see a lvl 18 necro and lvl somethign wizzy well i strated harvesting so ihad a node targeting and all of a sudden i hear the resist sound and i was like umm [Removed for Content] so im looping for a conned player and a few seconds go by and before i know it i got mana/lifeburned for all my health thats kinda [Removed for Content] imo. i know i could have one shooted then but i was so surprised that i kinda had slow reactions but i logged on my q alt and talked ot them they said they kill dozens like thayt every day

Uilamin 05-23-2007 01:12 AM

ummm how was a necro on the qeynos side? As for lifeburn - it is a sweet spell for low level ganking higher level people in pvp as it cannot be resisted.

Cocytus 05-23-2007 02:27 AM

Lifeburn cannot do more than 60% of a target's total health.

Additionally, I've let a friend lifeburn me once, he was 34 at the time. Did 50% health before it wore off. I am 70.

Borias 05-23-2007 02:38 AM

I think he means he got lifeburned, and also manaburned.

WasFycksir 05-23-2007 10:17 AM

Both grays could have been exiles, right?

tass 05-23-2007 01:44 PM

lol those spells are the best. Unresistant. You should count urself lucky. Originally mana burn did 5 points of dmg for every point of mana the wiz had using up all the power in 1 big [Removed for Content] attack. However the dev saw as I and so many other demonstrated just how overpowered it was when we wasted fully fabled and aa ducked out raiding guardians in 1 blow. lv 75 3 arrows fell easy as well in pve. Plus it was a waste of mana in raids so it was reduced to 50 or 60% total dmg. Still think they should of left it 100% for pvp. Woulda defiantly made people make dam sure their were no wizzies anywhere.

Norrsken 05-24-2007 07:08 AM

Yah, both life and manaburn are capped at 60%, and give 30 seconds immunity to its own kind.

Pumancat 05-24-2007 10:52 AM

Manaburn - Also the 5 points of dmg per point of power only applys to PVE. For PVP it got chopped to 1 point dmg per point of power.

Nyarlath - 70 wizard

Venekor server

Groma 05-24-2007 12:02 PM

I'm still curious how you were lifeburned and manaburned, as a freeporter. If they were grey exiles, you could have 1shotted them long before you got nailed.

Groma 05-24-2007 12:13 PM

But he said he logged on to a Q alt to talk to them, pretty much ruling out the Necro all together.

shalom 05-24-2007 12:22 PM

The OP said he was looking for conned players, not greys, by the time he realized it was them attacking him it was too late.

Getting killed by greys sucks...untill you remember how much fun it is to be on the other side (killing reds).

Its a struggle sometimes for me to carefully look at greys and give higher level greys respect...cause they're all grey 16's and 40's. A group of 16's is insignificant, a group of 40's is very significant. The trouble is that they look the same at a quick glance.

It might be nice to have some kind of customizeable conn coloring system, by level difference, so I could make -10 to -15lvl 'greys' some other color. Especially when the cap goes to 80.

PeaSy1 05-24-2007 03:59 PM

Manaburn is capped at 40%

Bozidar 05-24-2007 04:19 PM

Gromann wrote:
But he said he logged on to a Q alt to talk to them, pretty much ruling out the Necro all together.
yes, this is a flaw in the story..

Bogenbroom123 05-24-2007 07:10 PM

I think maybe he was engaged in pvp vs someone and a necro wiz combo burned him. Otherwise, the most dmg that could possibly have been done to him is 80%. He's probably complaining to try to get yet another nerf put in on classes that have already seen too many.

holypaladin28 05-24-2007 11:43 PM

q's exiles same thing i always lump them togther even in channels i shout out there are q's when they are exiles

and yeah i just figured the grays were being silly so i ignored them as i didnt see a problem

and if you get mana/ifeburned its 110% of your totel power

Cocytus 05-26-2007 04:05 PM

Actually

I let a necro friend of mine lifeburn me. He was 34 at the time, and I'm 70 of course.

Well. It did just shy of 60% of my health in damage. Add this with manaburn, and who knows *shrugs*

Bawang 05-29-2007 03:38 AM

You can't even cast Manaburn unless you've got agro from target so I don't see how it could have been used against him while he was harvesting.

Bawang wrote:
You can't even cast Manaburn unless you've got agro from target so I don't see how it could have been used against him while he was harvesting.
HE resisted the first spell and started looking for the ballsy caster that attacked him, not the two grays.

Yea..really cheap how that works...

and now Sony has to be even more [Removed for Content] and make it so if you kill a gray, you don't get any Notoriety/infamy/fame BUT if you die to a gray, you lose it =P

imaevilpoptart 05-30-2007 04:51 AM

Well as for lifeburn (i dont have a wizz so i cant speak for manaburn) to be able to do 60% in pvp you loose ALOT of health, lifeburning a tank class and going 60% lifeburn would require nearly all your health for example so then all the tank has to do is /poke and you die, please dont cry out for even further nerf on necros its horible enough as it is. with all the just dumb stuff people do in pvp, having a lifeburn/manaburn duo really doesent seem like the charge that should be fought for on the front lines of the nerf bat front, hell lets start with the fact that without lifeburn the average necro ( Me.... ok you're right I'm a baddie) cant reasonably kill ANY class if they are not bots. my last bit of complaining - Stop the crazy amount of resists in pvp - Allow casters to stay up long enough to see which of the overpowered scout classes is killing them - Bring back the glitch from way back when that let necro pet insta-kill anyone =D - When I get a kill please give me a cookie <3

I've used it on high orange mobs I couldnt land much else on, and still didnt get resisted. AND, if you read the spell description of lifeburn, it says "This spell cannot be outright resisted". I pretty much interpret that as that it cant be resisted. Dunno how you got it to mean highly resistable.
