Really, any of the healers are perfectly good for healing a group. They are all designed to be completely fine as the sole healer of a group. The main difference between them is in how they do their healing -- reactive heals, wards, or heals over time. Some healers find it easier to heal some types of tanks so if you know what class will be doing your tanking that might be a factor to consider (for example, the mystic/defiler go great with monk/bruiser tanks, while the templar/inquisitor has a harder time healing them -- still can do, just has to work a bit harder).

If you're looking at raids, IMO there's a bit of a shortage of the shamans (mystic/defiler) though again, pretty much any healer is useful. And of course the druids (fury/warden) get the useful portals which makes them a popular choice too.

Pick whichever healer type suits your preference and you should be fine for groups no matter what you choose.

I second what Didi said. Any healer is fine and theyr'e well balanced.

the only place where any 1 healer could be said to really be "superior" is in the case where a lot of AoE's are going off and hitting your group. In that case, a druid (Fury or Warden) and their group regen will be your best best at healing everyone back to full the quickest. But the others can still keep that group up too. And you don't often run into multiple AoE's from mobs like that either, so it's really not anything to worry about.

I have a defiler, an inquisitor, and a fury. The styles are quite different one to another, though.

The defiler is very proactive -- focuses on stopping the damage from even arriving though a combination of crippling debuffs and a damage shield ward that takes the damage before the tank's health does. Once that green bar starts dropping, though. . . it's a little harder to make it go back up. Still doable, of course.

The inquisitor is quite reactive. Main heals proc when the tank is hit, and then you have large direct heals to bring that green bar up in a big chunk when it does drop. You still have some decent debuffs, but nothing as crippling as a defiler.

The fury is the one I consider to be "balanced." The regen allows you to be a little proactive and let it tick off while you do other things, but you also have several quick-casting heals in order to be able to deal with a damage spike in a hurry too, and if you're doing that, then you're reacting as well. Furies have a lot of buffs for the group, but not much in the way of debuffs, so the mobs will often be comng after your group at full strength, so it can call for some quickness in the button mashing at times.

And there ya go. . . .3 different ways of accomplishing the same thing. All dependent on how you would want to do it, of course.

Some have to just be more proactive then others about how they go about "healing" such as remembering that damage that is Not taken is as good as a heal, wich applies to shammies and there debuffs.
