<DIV>Hi all.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a level 21 human assassin as my main and I have a lot of fun playing it, especially in PvP, but I've noticed anytime I'm fighting something white to me or higher, I usually get owned unless it's a mage or something weak.   </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What am I doing wrong?  My spells are upgraded the best I can afford to upgrade them and my weapon is pretty good too. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And how important are poisons?  I'm a lvl 21 and I've never used them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, are Ratonga's naturally faster than everything else?  I made an alt assassin as a Ratonga and he seems way faster than anything else I've played. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <P>Message Edited by ez22 on <SPAN class=date_text>09-13-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>04:22 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by ez22 on <span class=date_text>09-13-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:22 AM</span>

<P>All the characters are the same speed.  The difference you're seeing is coming from the height difference, ie an Ogre looks like it is moving much slower than a Gnome.  There's no speed difference.</P> <P>From what I remember, I really didnt start to come into my own as a damage machine until later on in levels. </P>

<P>From what I hear and read from others, Assassins, is not a pvp class, they are a damage class</P> <P>at lower levels assassins are not really even that much of a damage class.</P> <P>I am 61 now and I finally got one shot over 6 k and the zerker guildy who is 65 says she does that all the time.</P> <P>I think the bottom line is the game is not balanced, some classes, like some of the fighter classes really rule, and others no so much, ..I think assassins are in the not so much section</P>

<DIV>At the highest levels with decent gear, combat art upgrades and the right AAs nobody should be out dpsing you except in very specific situations. Period.</DIV>

Hang in there you are not even 24 yet to get the first taste of big hit long cool down.I didnt really start coming into my own until mid 30's.POISONS are essential to the dps we can dish out and help incapaciate our enemies. Please do yourself a favor and befriend an alchy or better yet make one.T3 poisons now are just DD and debuff I believe but t6 and t7 is where all the cool stuff is now.I know it is frustrating but buying butterfly totems so you can see those sneaky swashes and rangers will help.<div></div>

As a raiding assassin missing only a couple of the less important masters my present view point to this question is obviously skewed, I firmly agree with the already stated comments that outside of certain situations assassin's should be on top of the parse.  This said I will also add that the class is highly dependent upon the gear equipped, especially at the lower levels.  My assassin has always been my main, I don't have another character within 40 levels of it.  When first starting out I remember having some issues soloing, largely due to the awful gear and spells I was using.  Once I gained a full set of then legendary player crafted gear things became a lot easier.  With the begining of t5 fabled drops things became even easier.  Most important were the combat art upgrades to adept III or master.  With the introduction of duels on the pve servers I have noticed that there are certain classes that are much easier to kill than others.  Yet again, if you are properly equipped and play smart however you can kill most others.  My experience on the pvp servers is somewhat limited, only got a pvp assassin up to the mid 30s.  Still, I didnt have any feeling of being underpowered.  I just adapted my dueling techniques to the rules of the pvp server.  For pvp my one observation was you have to be very opportunistic.  Wait till the essential attacks are up then strike, if it isnt over within 15 seconds with your opponent dead it will probably be you who ends up dead, have to put the damage out fast.
