<DIV> <DIV>My fellow brother and sister rangers,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am totally hooked on this game.  </DIV> <DIV>I was a diehard StarWars Galaxies fan (played for about 3 years or so) - but came to point where there was nothing else to do.  My guild deflated and the lack of content just made the game stale.  It was PVP or go looting in caves (boring!!!).  I decided to give EQ2 a try and am having a ball.</DIV> <DIV>I was always fascinated by any type of Ranger class - so I created my first toon to be a Human Male Ranger.  Got him to lvl 15 last night and I can't wait to get him to 20 to start the AQ and makeshift arrows!!!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I decided to start my Tradeskilling - took me about an hour to figure out that I had to Hail the trainer (right click and hail) to start.  <IMG height=16 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=16 border=0></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Got to lvl10 quickly (which I've read happens easily).  I picked a jeweler because reading the great posts on the Ranger Class forum - and am having fun with that as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The community is great - the interface is great (compared to SWG).  Its so easy to find a guild - converse with them - see their stats.</DIV> <DIV>I guess I'm just saying hi and warning that the forums might be flooded soon with questions that I might have.</DIV> <DIV>Any tips as I'm starting out?  Things I should look for at this low level - quests I should be aware of and try to do?</DIV> <DIV>TIA<BR>Ferros</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>Hello and welcome.  The only tip I have is not to put too much stock in all the complaining  you will eventually see in the forums as you search through to find answers.  We've had our ups and downs and some of us are pretty bitter, but over all, you could not have made a better choice.  For fun and challenge, Rangers are by far the best class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is so many ways to play a Ranger, you'll have to experiment to see what works best for you.  As you level up, you will get more and better ranged skills.</DIV>

Hey and welcome to rangerdom <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Tips? hmmm well I was level 17 before i realised scouts are able to apply poisons and do a whole lot better <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />A lot of "new" rangers are surprised by the lack of early bow Combat abillities but don't worry they will come as you progress.<div></div>

<P>Welcome to Ranger land! </P> <P>tip?   When solo'ing, don't forget the 'cheap shot' -->  step behind --> stealthing backstab --> stealth stab combo.</P> <P>good luck!</P>

<P>Welcome,</P> <P>if i were to make a new ranger, i'd recommend making a woodelf or highelf.   As of EoF, both races have a racial trait that provides a permanent 2% crit to ranged.   This is a major advantage over the other races.  </P>

<div>Welcome to the wonderful world of rangerdom.  Lets see, things I wished people had told me earlier as a ranger:1. Rangers use poisons, three kinds, they are red, blue and purple so you can tell which ones stack (took me to level 23 to find out about poison).2. Rangers can use quivers, no need to stick in 99 arrows at a time, you can get a quiver and shoot all day without worry (think I got to 30 before figuring this one out).3. Cheapshot lets you use the other half of your melee CAs when soloing. Just walk through the stunned mob (no need to walk around it or face it), use your flanking attack that makes you invised followed by your invised attack (level 46, I didn't even have it in my hotbar anymore, man I hate people).</div>

<DIV>Wow! you lasted 3 years in SWG very impressive, I lasted about a year then bailed due to the Dev's being high or something, they completely borked that game in a short time...Anyway, welcome to the Ranger Profession and more SOE antics!</DIV>

I just started up a little Fae Fury alt and was reminded of one important trick: grab as many quests as you can, esp early on.  At one point I was getting 5 quest updates for each Orc I killed.  So, run around hailing NPCs, grabbing quests, and then see if you can't finish them off 2, 3 or even 4 at a time.  It really stacks the exp and coin at a time when you need it.And welcome, Rangers are great, as is this community, as such we do feel free to vent here from time to time.  AS was said before, don't let it get you down.<div></div>

welcome to the world of being a ranger <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> All of the above is sound advice,only thing ill add is that stun/slow poisons are your friend when soloing.These are the blue coloured poisons on broker. Oh and the cheap shot combo is the bread and butter of being a ranger at low levels until you develop more ranged attacks. Keep us posted on your progress and people will be helpful here if your stuck on something. <div></div>

<P>Progress Report:</P> <P> </P> <P>Been playing for a bit now made it to 22 Ranger / 14 Scholar.  Having a good time learning the game.  Joined a guild that has been extremely helpful and supportive.</P> <P>As I'm reading though - noticing alot of people mentioning the root - snare combo.</P> <P>At what level do I get the root?  If i have it already - let me know what the CA is called.  Maybe i'm missing it somewhere...</P> <P>TIA</P>

Prandtl 12-21-2006 10:04 PM

The lunge line has a short duration unbreakable root.  Hit it with lunge and you will have time to back up and get off a few bow attacks.  If you snare it beforehand it will take even longer to get to you

Gnome mercy 12-21-2006 11:54 PM

<P>Watch out for snare tho, unless they changed it since my day (I will be on again tomorrow i hope) it always has a chance of breaking every time you hit that so just watch it One thing I noticed if you got your good poisons at about 22-25 you can solo those +3 giants in thundering steeps for killer exp, again tho you gotta find a good spot to kite them around but also be careful they have a HUGE range.</P> <P>I think thats all i can remember</P>

CapnJax21 12-22-2006 12:33 AM

<DIV>Thanks for the info.</DIV> <DIV>I'm at work now and will be going home shortly to try it out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Happy Holidays everyone...</DIV>
