Plain and simple they are way too powerful for lowbie pvp, they hit for over 1000 damage on toons with full pvp gear that have ~3000-4000 hp, they taunt, etc. Assassin and Warlock mercs can 1 shot people.

If there are still mercs in pvp doing ANYTHING AT ALL by the next update, then my sub is ending, as are the people I play with.

They should be automatically dismissed when engaged by or engaging into pvp. They should be automatically dismissed when a warfield pops in that zone. If these things arent done by the next GU then its time to move on to a different game.

Amen.

Who thought it was a good idea to let NPC's in pvp? Its a PvP server. PvP means player v player in case you guys forgot. Like, in no situation is this close to pvp anymore.

OMG! Someone's coming to pvp! *pop assassin merc*, 1 shot.

Please, address this. Dont nerf merc dmg or nerf merc heals. Get rid of them in every zone in the game other than instances (which is how they shouldve been implemented in the first place).

Terrible idea. This is one of the few things keeping this server alive. Most players don't like to get ganked randomly while doing a quest in the open-world. Having a merc to back you up keeps you playing. This is all too important for new players too.

There's no magic pill that'll make Nagafen thrive again. EQ2 has lost a lot of its population over the years. Newer and better games have come out. Only EQNext has any realistic hope of reviving population, but the revival will not be in EQ2 or EQ1.

But slowing the population decline can still be accomplished and it's the best thing SOE can do with Nagafen (and EQ2).

I'm as Bluebie Care Bear as you can get, yet I fully endorse removing mercenaries from PvP.

See, the key words here are Player Versus Player. Not Player versus Player & Non-Player.

If you dont like getting ganked while questing, then up your awareness. Its a PvP server, so there will be PvP. I wouldnt care as much about mercs, but the fact that an asn merc can hit for 3k or a warlock merc hit for 4k (while Im in full pvp gear or full mastercrafted) is unacceptable. They shouldnt be the difference between winning and losing. I wouldn't care if their dmg was reduced by 99.99% versus PCs, but save fore that change, they should be not usuable unless in an instance.

You are about to engage another player in pvp battle in the open world. Neither of you have a merc summoned. You engage said person but they dont engage back, they run about 50 meters away and pop their assassin merc. They then re-engage you but only for a second, because their assassin merc mortal blades you for 3500 of your 4000 health. PvP over.

Does that sound like its helping the population of a pvp server? Anytime you engage someone in pvp if they have a merc you are required to kill their merc before you even bother with the player, because the merc will do 10x the dps the player will (unless they are an op beastlord, but thats a different topic).

Lol @ this still being an issue so far in.

so many simple things wrong & the shot callers at large are just not sufficient.

Mercs, Flying Mounts etc.

PvP still dead

Mercs should be like a pve proc. Great for pve but useless in pvp. Get hit and they stop doing anything including warding and rezing. They shoud not be able to be called if you get hit in pvp. Let the criers cry.

On a side note: I have seen some offer to duel and then as soon as you hit them they pull out the merc knowing you cannot do so. That is weak and weak.
