Location: Crushbone server , multiple MMCEs listed on boards

So I finally started working on the actual castle to go along with many of the other Potter themed places I've done. My first attempt was pretty bad. I tried doing the whole castle in one zone and it ws lacking so much in content and detail. So, I decided to break up the project into multiple houses that can be finished over time in hopes to do each area a bit more justice. So far, just the Entry Hall (portal hub) and the Dining Hall are complete, but I thought I'd share it now since it'll be forever before I finish the project as a whole.

Here's an overview of the portals currently set up off of the Entry Hall hub and where I hope to go with the project as it grows.

The Entry Hall

the entry hall staircase

looking back at the entry doors. Ligoh 07-24-2012 11:47 AM

Just 3 words: fab-u-lous!

Zophrenia 07-24-2012 11:55 AM

This is so awesome that anything I could say would not be enough to describe how awesome this is. I especially love what you did with the night-sky thing you got goin' on in one of those hallways. Reallly nice.Did you make that "view" yourself, or was that done already? The view you see when you look outside.

Eliohia 07-24-2012 12:16 PM

this is freekin AWSOME!! (both my boys said so too hehe)

Dawnstrike 07-24-2012 12:51 PM

Wow Afista this is amazing! It really does feel like Hogwarts! I love the big cathedral window in the dining hall! How in the world did you get the cross hatch effect with the smaller lines?

Afista 07-24-2012 01:00 PM

Thanks guys!

Eliohia - Glad your boys like it! My daughter (who's 3) loves to run a character around in there and visit "Harry's Castle" hehe

Dawnstrike wrote:

How in the world did you get the cross hatch effect with the smaller lines?

The smaller windows with the "H"s in them are done with the Thexian Wine Racks. The large window at the back was done with the edges of black marble tiles. Originally I tried using wine racks there too, but the item size wouldn't render graphics at the zone-in point near the doorway. The larger tiles make it visible though.

[email protected]ntonia Bayle wrote:

Did you make that "view" yourself, or was that done already? In the MMCE, if you go out onto the balcony and look way up, the castle sits directly above the house zone. You can teleport pad/climb way up to get the view. You just can't get too close to the castle, there is an item 'freeze point' where things won't place beyond the gorge up there.

This is incredible! I'll have to stop by to see it in person!!!!

Aderissah 07-24-2012 01:14 PM

This is absolutely amazing! I also found the castle view to be stunning, such a great discovery! I've had the itch lately to make some Potter themed dungeons, definitely an inspiration

Jexi 07-24-2012 01:27 PM

As a person who likes Harry Potter I have to say this is pretty dang awesome. Great job.

This is wonderful!

I have to see that in person and once the servers are back I make a new char and just bought a char slot.

I loved the books, loved the movies and I love this creation. I already saw so many details I want to check out closely.

The view back to the castle looks wonderful.

Greetings Mu!

Perrigrin 07-25-2012 03:14 AM

This....is....beautiful!! And it's on the same server I'm on *hurray!!* I can't wait to get home from work so I can log in to come see it in person. Afista are you the same person that did the Quidditch pitch and other connected Harry Potter themes?

Yunay 07-25-2012 03:46 AM

Wuahhh .... great project ... can't wait to see the other "rooms"

(and 1 extremely easy dungeon) Although the pitch might get redone at some point. It was when I was just learning how to edit mid-project, so the seating framework is pretty choppy in some areas and the towers are at varying heights.

Dyanaea 07-25-2012 09:29 AM

well done

aesthetically pleasing and a great interpretation. Bravo.

Senya 07-25-2012 12:33 PM

This is absolutely incredible!!

Goldinrae 07-25-2012 02:13 PM

Totally blown away! So beautifully done. Love the stairways and the dining hall is spot on

Keratis 07-25-2012 02:49 PM

Very awesome. Projects like these are what make the designers in this game miles above players in other games. And what keeps me here.

Tyrus Dracofire 07-25-2012 04:39 PM

Turbinegame have that tech for moving steps in Asheron's Call, stairs rotate randomly.

part of "Gaerlain's Library" for final assault inside his citadel. you see alot of floating candles in it.

quiarrah 07-25-2012 07:32 PM

What house is it originally? I can't tell. . . or did you build it all yourself?

Atmu 07-27-2012 07:44 AM

Hello,

so I went there in person and I am very impressed about the building. I am not yet that far in using the editor to build something like this, well I don't dare yet I guess. It looks very authentic and I am keen to open the other doors. What I like most is the clever set up of the display cases and I will certainly steal this idea, as I was looking for nice display cases since a long while but was not happy with what I created so far. The table with the hat is adorable =)

Greetings Mu!

Afista 07-28-2012 09:54 AM

Thank you all so much for the kind comments. I was very hesitant to actually start this particular project to go with the other themed places I did because I was most worried about messing this one up. I'm very grateful it's being received well ~HUGS~

quiarrah wrote:

What house is it originally? The entry hall is up in the air above where the balcony is from the main home wince it needed the view of castle Mistmoore. The dining hall was down on the beach level since there's no view to show.

Perrigrin 07-30-2012 11:56 PM

I finally got around to checking this out today during baby naptime, and it is stunning! You did a wonderful job on this!! I can't wait until the other portals open

Mayl 08-07-2012 01:24 PM

Amphibia 08-14-2012 06:15 PM

I visited the dining hall and didn't even know it was yours, Afista. I gotto say, this is some of the most amazing stuff I've seen so far. Very, very nicely done!
