<DIV> I quit EQ2 a long time ago because my friends started playing WoW, so I joined up with them. Good game. But all my friends stopped playing all together, and with all the changes that have happened to EQ2 since I've been around (including PvP servers), I decided to give it another shot. So far so good.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> I had a paladin at about level 33 I think on the Lucan D`Lere (sp?) server, and like the paladin. I like the versatility. Now I'm re-rolling on the rp PVP server, and have started another paladin. My question is this, does the paladin handle himself well in PvP? Skill level and armor aside, does the paladin and his abilities make for a fun class to PvP with? I'm used to WoW still and the paladins there are the hardest class to kill hands down. Not necessarily able to kill everything in his path or anything like that, but his amazing survivability gives him the time he needs to make the kills. Is the paladin similar in EQ2, and if different, how?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Thanks for your input. I looked for some info on this but didn't find any already on the forums. It's good to be back...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>first off dont expect to solo kill people unless you find people who dont run and are looking for a fight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>second they are amazing for absorbing damage and keeping fps off their group mates</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>the resist alot and are only really killed if they are jumped by a group or if they are debuffed into a monk with no attack power</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>this is coming from a lvl 70 pally on Vene </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>if you want to gank people roll a ranger or swashy but if you want to be the best plate tank for pvp imo be a pally</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>this is one of the only toons i can play forever and not get tired of it</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>just my 2cp</DIV>

<P>There are two types of people in PVP, those who do DPS and those who do not. If you want to be a tank, be a bruiser or zerker. If you want to be a healer, be a fury. If you absolutely insist on being both, then be a pally.</P> <P>You're worthless without a group, you've got no snare without going deep into the agility line, and you have no burst DPS. Scout damage is SO high that mitigation is almost a moot point. The difference between a scout slaughtering me and a cloth wearer is about 5 additional seconds and 2 additional CAs. Wards/heals? Forget about it, 2.5 seconds is an eternity in PVP. Should you even manage to get close to killing somebody, 75% of the server has evac.</P> <P> </P> <P>I don't mean to sound incredibly negative. Sigil of heroism is a fantastic tide changer. Pop that and move out of melee range and whatever group is attacking yours deals next to no damage for 12 seconds. Taunts are a fantastic tool, AE taunt gets resisted like its nobody's business but when it does go through its great. LOH needs no explaination. A secondary healer is underrated when the heat is on. And lastly we've got a couple more AEs then other tank classes.</P> <P>Be a scout class, Brigand is currently the fotm. Cloth DPS is very rare and in high demand, though its not as powerful and self dependent as a scout. </P> <P> </P> <P>Or if all else fails be a shadowknight. No matter how weak you may be, you've got a free kill every 15 minutes.</P>

<DIV>i wouldnt say that SKs ht is completely nerfed at lvl 40+ and almost worthless in pvp heh it acts more as a taunt then anything else.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>if you want to stay in ss all day long which is where alot of the pvp happens then bring 2 healers or else prepare for deaths.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>pally heals are worthless in pvp even up to 2 secs into the fight it will not matter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>castigate and sigil of heroism are some of the most underrated spells in pvp</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>normally i just stay in def stance with my 1 hander and shield and taunt the hell outta the fps that come after my group.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>heh i did get a few solo kills while harvesting ive killed 2 solo even con wizzies and a blue zerker</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>btw i normally pvp with like 3 scouts at least and i try to find a monk or a fury. dont like templars or mystics much but ther work for single group vs single group pvp</DIV>

As has been pointed out, solo we are definitely not the greatest...in groups we shine. One of the most underused Paladin spells in PvP I think is our Bloodline Chronicles spell...Doom Judgment. It has an AE debuff in it - great against casters and healers...drop those buffs on them and hit them with everything you got and watch them wet their pants!
