<DIV>Hey everyone, new EQ2 player here, I've been reading the faqs/stickies at the top, but had a couple questions. Is Paladin a good choice for a new player? I'll probably be solo a lot, since I don't know anybody yet. I generally like classes that are a mix of magic/melee, and enjoy tanking.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are any tradeskills better than others for Paladins? Keep in mind that, like I said, I will probably be mostly solo for at least a while, so are there any that will help me out more than others?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What are good choices for the stat/skill upgrades that you get at certain levels (like 10 or whatever)? If this is in a faq here already, I'll find it eventually.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other than that, any other tips for a new player? Thanks for the help!</DIV>

I think a Paladin will be a really good choice to get to know EQ2. I chose it as my first character a while ago and the simplicity of melee attacks gave me room to slowly get to know the gameplay. In my opinion a paladin is an allrounder - really good for soloing (Healing and tanking ability).<div></div>
I'd agree - Paladin is a good class for what you want to do. I, too, like to tank and prefer a bit of magic thrown in. You should be aware though, that the Paladin is a slow soloer. A Shadowknight might be faster. As for tradeskill - with the recent changes making it pretty easy to craft, I'd pick armorer or provisioner. As an armorer you could make all your own armor (good for the soloer) or as a provisioner you could make all your own food/drink.

A armorer is still very useful, but at this stage of the game i love the potions that can enhance my pallie: stat potions, max power potions, max health potions, power and or health regen potions. Spell cure potions and several others that may be removed from the game now. Just another crafting class to think of...<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR>
