<DIV>When viewing armor, how does +vs an attack type equate to an increase in mitigation?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>in other words:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Armor A = 485 Mitigation</DIV> <DIV>Armor B = 435 Mitigation, +60vs crushing, +60vs Slashing, +60vs Piercing</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If they are both the same tier and they are both the same quality (Legendary for example) then which is better?  Also, does Armor B actually have a Mit of 495 or is it calculated differently?</DIV>

AFAIK the +vsSlash/Crush/Pierce is a way to differentiate when a piece of armor has improved protection vs one of those stats.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For example:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Armor A has a standing mit of 485 (your example).</DIV> <DIV>Armor C has standing mit of 435, and +60vsCrush, +40vsSlash, and +20vsPierce as an example.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you were to put on armor C, you would see in your stats that the item gave you 475 mit (435 + average of the 3.. or 120/3). The average of the additional +vs stuff is used in your persona tab to display your overall mitigation. However, in ACTUAL mitigation, you would have 495 against any crushing attack, 470 against any slashing attack, and 455 against a piercing attack.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That's probably about as clear as mud. Sorry about that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The one thing I don't get, however, is why they would put +60 vs all 3 instead of just adding another 60 mit on the base mitigation. /shrug</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>~Sir Hawke Holyblayde, Champion of Drednever</DIV>

Mitigation is really just Slashing, Crushing and Piercing resistance. If you have a piece of armor with 400 Mitigation, +69 Crushing, +128 Slashing, it adds:469 Crushing528 Slashing400 PiercingYour mitigation number as displayed on your Persona sheet is a misnomer, as it is the average of these three resists.<div></div>
