<DIV>for ages i wore my Rubicite Kite Shield currently 720 shield factor giving me a  16.0% block chance, but today i got the drop on a Crimson Rock Targe 928 shield factor so i take off the trustworthy Rubicite and throw on the new shield and attune and guess what, 208 more shield factor and still only  a 16.0% block chance my avoidance didnt go up at all, as a matter of fact it went down because it doesnt have the 2 agi  like the rubicite decreasing my base avoidance, i'm hoping this  is a bug cause even the simplest of math should make it a 20.6% block chance</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cahner Macleod</DIV> <DIV>55 Paladin </DIV> <DIV>KotR Leader</DIV><p>Message Edited by Guiddian on <span class=date_text>10-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:12 AM</span>

This is a known issue.  The way it should have been done is like mitigation, whereby x mitigation is y % damage resistance at z level.  As you level up and mobs get harder, you should need to upgrade to a better shield.  However, somone dropped the ball somewhere in there and the only things that affect shield avoidance are the type of shield and the quality (treasured/legendary/fabled etc). <div></div>

<DIV>so i guess i wasted a perfectly good fabled shield as its actually a downgrade to rubicite considering rubicite gives extra hp/tick and the 16 int increases my dps more then the added 8 str even tho the new shield should have significantly increased my avoidance, man hearing that i'm glad i didnt by ironwood, my avoidance would have went down even further going from fabled to legendary. guess there idea of "upgrades" are kinda fooked</DIV>

<P>Its not bugged. Plate armor lowers your avoidance cap.</P> <P>But as Moorguard accidentally shared with us a while back, you may have "invisible" avoidance versus higher level mobs, avoidance that does not show in the persona window. The avoidance indicator in the persona window just shows your avoidance vs a mob of your same level. This means that increasing your shield factor DOES have meaning, although it does not show in the persona window. The same goes for mitigation.</P> <P>What "IS" bugged is the way the dev's have decided to show us our avoidance. </P>

we are not discussing avoidance here. this is about increasing our mitigation. it is bugged. going from sbs to the t6 imbued gave me a whopping 0.4 % increase in mitigation. wow. well worth the plat i spent. yes, plate armor decreases avoidance, but stick with the issue. this is mitigation we are talking about and a better shield should mean better defense period, end of discussion.

<P>Actually it is bugged and has been discussed as being in the process of being worked on.  You can argue the specifics of how or how its not working, but doenst change the fact that the devs even acknowledge that its broken right now.</P> <P> </P> <P>Demonslayor</P>

<DIV> <DIV><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <P></P> <HR> <P>Moorgard wrote:</P></BLOCKQUOTE></DIV> <DIV>As for shields, we already stated that they grant avoidance in the form of the Block chance. However, the display of the Block value in the Persona window is broken and doesn't increase correctly as you switch to a shield with a higher shield factor. This will be fixed in Live Update #16, scheduled for a week from today.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To be clear, the chance to block is being computed correctly in combat. <DIV>Try seeing if there is a difference between shields of different shield factors while NOT wearing plate armor (take off your plate armor and switch between two sheilds with different shield factor, such as pristine cedar kite shield and pristine ironwood kite shield)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am predicting that you will see a difference in avoidance in the persona window while doing this. Then putting your plate armor on will lower it down.</DIV>
