View Full Version : Paladin Items and Skills - How to Spend Your Coin

<DIV>As some of you may know, we have been working on a Crusader/Paladin guide for some time.  A big issue is how to spend our coin on items and skills.  At lvl 33, I have come to the following conclusion:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Items matter but skill (spell/combat arts)  upgrades matter more.   My advice is to purchase pristine items made from the common metal at whatever tier you are at (iron, carbonite, feyiron etc.).  Save your coin and get full pristine vangaurd plate, a full set of pristine weapons (I use a Battle Hammer,  Long Sword and a Great Sword.  Use whatever u like) and a full set of pristine fashioned jewelry.  DO NOT purchase expensive crafted items made from rare materials, they are always attunable now so they are throwaways that cannot be resold on the market.  Quest for items when you can but after lvl 25, there is a severe lack of good Paladin quested items from what I have seen.  Once you have the basic set of items, just use them for the entire tier.  Sell everything else of value that you find and invest it in skill upgrades.  Be careful about buying Adept or Master upgrades.  Make sure the item you are purchasing is not going to be replaced by a better skill in the next few levels.  For example, I just found a very nice rare shield but it is not that much better than my pristine briarwood kite shield so I am going to sell it and use the coin for skill upgrades.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>These and your suggestions will be added to our guide so please comment whether you agree or disagree.  The input of high lvl pallys is desired.</DIV><p>Message Edited by BlackWeb on <span class=date_text>02-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:17 PM</span>

<DIV>only suggestion i have is mine, mine as much as you can......makes getting adept 3 spells alot cheaper.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but as far as blackweb said is pretty clear cut and best route....of course there will be a certain exception of few pieces of loot that are better and worth while as compared to the armorer/jeweler crafted stuff...example include Necklace of glowing orbs and anicent slayers ring of stamina, or rubicite vanguard gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>this again coming from a lvl 38 paladin. so just depends on your lvl range as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>~nytefire</DIV> <DIV>ratonga paladin of Blackburrow</DIV>

<DIV>since all items are now attunable more or less I can't really agree with saying a huge "NO" to having items made out of rare metals. I try and get two weapons and a shield out of rares whenever possible. But then again I'm a filthy provisioner on the side *wink*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can agree somewhat with having armour made out of rares though, currently T3 and T4 are simply not that great compared to the normal crafted or dropped items of their respective tiers. Hopefully SOE will give those tiers a boost <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>rare harvested armor isnt needed till your 40s. as far as equipment vs skills. to start off.. taunt/shout app4, then its armor then skills then weapon.</DIV>

<DIV>It's never really "needed" but it is nice to have regardless. However, with the exception of Ebon armour I don't really see a point except for the prestige (Which I am a huge fan of and therefor try to persue <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And thats a shame really, hopefully the armour smiths will lobby for changes so the carpenters don't turn all the steel and Feysteel into silly lamps <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
