View Full Version : We can use Demonstration of Faith on ourselves?

<DIV>I thought it was only for others. When i try to buff myself with it...it says something like "no target". So how does one buff oneself with this? What other spells can i buff with too? i generally use :</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. blessed weapon...if thats a buff</DIV> <DIV>2. Toughness</DIV> <DIV>3. Call to Arms</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>and if fighting gnolls...the gnoll thingy</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>im lvl 21 now and am such a noob!!!!!!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>yes u can dof yourself, i dont really even use it after lvl 20, takes to much time to click on myself and then cast it, while i can be doing damage and getting heal with arem's judgement(good lvl 20 training to get) but definately cast vigor on yourself.  you just need to target yourself, i have a modified ui and cant remember on you would do it with old version but im sure someone here does</DIV>

<DIV>From what I've seen, you get that message when the mob you have targeted has not aquired a target or is targeting a pet.  You can cast it on yourself by casting it on the mob your attacking (assuming the mob has you as his target) as it will land on whoever the mob is eyed on.</DIV>

<DIV>You can cast Demonstration of Faith on yourself yes, I'm really surprised you haven't done that already, especially if you're past level 20 <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm not sure if they changed something though as you used to be able to just cast DoF and Blessed aid regardless of what you had targeted. If you didn't target a group member or yourself you'd still have the effect land on you.</DIV>

<DIV>Just target the mob that's attacking you and cast it - works great.  If your not using this on every fight, your really limiting yourself (not only in solo fighting, but in a group as well - less heals required).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Fenra Fairheart (Butcherblock)</DIV>

<DIV>Well thnx...Target the mob and cast...easy enough! Coupled witht he fact that im this good without using it......look out! Im suprised ur all not asking me fer fighting tips...knowing that ive been winin with one hand tied behind my back!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BTW...we can use pretty much all our spells on ourselves?</DIV>

<DIV>If you're running from a mob and don't have it targetted and want to throw up the ward, hit F1 to target yourself.</DIV>

Yes, use it. Your healer will love you for it as it'll cut down on the amount of mana they have to put out to continually heal you.I use it after 20 still. It's one of our better abilities.

<DIV>Platfinger hit it on the head.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You should use it EVERY fight.  Especially when solo'ing, all you do it cast it.  You leave the mob targeted and cast.  The game is smart enough to know that you don't mean to heal / buff a mob.  It automatically casts it on the Player the mob has targeted.  If solo, that's you.  If you're MT, then it better be you also.  It you're secondary tank, then cast away, it'll automatically cast onto the main tank.  Same with heals.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Same thing as when you're second tank and you cast your little paladin nuke.  You have the MT targeted (I hope so anyhow) and you cast.  The nuke hits the mob, not the main tank.  same / same.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is one of the most basic things about EQ2 that every player needs to firmly understand.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Yea, casting through a mob works on everything. Even assisting. If you aren't the main tank you can target the main tank and any combat ability you use will attack the mob if it's offensive or heal/buff the tank if its defensive. This really helps when fighting large groups of mobs.

<DIV>If the mob is targeted, the new implied target window makes it even easier to know which friendly you'll be warding.</DIV>

It's the 2nd thing I do after I've pulled a mob with aggro.Pull the mob, and while it's coming you hit the demonstration of faith shield to counter the mob's first blow. Then you aggro and everybody can start fighting.Anyway, that's my tactic and it served me well up to Lvl24 now <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I also use it on dying members to give the healer that extra little time to target and cast a healing spell.

I was fortunate enough to have someone make me DoF Adept3. I can not stress enough how powerful that is.I cast it on myself just before pulling, and during the entire fight (just cast it while having the mob targeted). It saves a MASSIVE amount of damage. Paired with cleric runes it really saves the day.

It protected 243 at Adept 1 and about 190 at App III.>>>It automatically casts it on the Player the mob has targeted. If solo, that's you. If you're MT, then it better be you also. <<<This is one of the great things about implied targetting. In the event you are the MT and the mob is NOT targetting you, the ward will go on whoever the mob IS targetting, which is likely someone who needs a ward NOW, giving you time to regain the aggro.

<DIV>Great info! Its amazing how little one knows...isn't it. This is my first toon...and really only one so far...an outside of progressive revelation...there is no way to know all this BASIC stuff. I think there needs to be a BASICS FOR NOOBS at the top that xplains this. I mean, i just realizes how to HO recenly too. I was told by one player early on that HO's don't work! hehe....now i know different.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But so mant people are helpful here. Not JUST here in forums either...but out in the Game too. I asked someone a series of questions the other day...a very high lvl Paladin...and at the end of our long discussion, when i was still at 19th lvl...or even 18th lvlv still maybe...HE GAVE ME A KICK [Removed for Content] SWORD THAT ROCKS BIGTYME.....that he didnt need anymore. I started using it at 20thlvl and it was better than the Sword of Honor i was given. That is just a great example of a selfless player. So I really appriciate the help around here. Im a pretty solid noob and gettin more STERDY as time goes by.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*Bows to all*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Pnaxx</DIV>
