<DIV>Soloing a blue^^ is just too much trouble...my advice is to move a few yards over and try soloing the green gnoll groups in the crater.  Green groups are much less trouble and give comperable exp and loot.  Also take off offering of armament, it lowers your AC, not raises it.  How does your gear look?  Is it mostly yellow/Orange or Green/Blue? and very importantly what wep are you using?  2 handed = more DPS  1 hand + shield = more DEF.</DIV>

<DIV>I make it a huge point to always upgrade, everytime i run into some gold i run straight to the broker and make sure everything is tip top i'm always in the orange.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When i solo i use two handed weapons</DIV> <DIV>declars sword (you know the sword from the paladin quest) it's still yellow/ orange </DIV> <DIV>and to keep up my crushing i have stormhold maul </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>should i have opted for nimble in the heritage upgrades?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Check this out for yourself, but I am pretty sure that Offering of Armament is not something you should cast on yourself. This is a spell that LOWERS your AC and gives it to someone else. It is a great spell to cast on your Main Tank if you are the Off Tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Check your stats before and after casting this on yourself, I think it actually ends up Costing you more AC than it gives you so it is a net LOSS in AC.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are better ways to use your mana. I like to keep Knight's Stance, Blessed Weapon, and Divine Vigor on when I solo. These eat up my conentration slots. Then I try and keep my ward up as much as possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That said... I also wouldn't go after Blue group mobs. Heck, I often have to run away from Green double up group mobs. I only try to go after the green double ups that are the lower level (there's always 2 levels that con green to you.) This allows me to heal faster and keep fighting. </DIV>

<DIV>I think you're right on that one. I could have sworn i read the discription to the T, ok that's cool single ^^blue mobs no eh? well i can take solo green ^^ no problem.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I keep reading these posts of guys saying "if you can't take yellow or orange mobs by yourself, then you need to know your class better" and it got me thinking maybe i'm not playing my paladin to his fullest</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I think they are talking about taking yellow and orange "Solo" mobs.  A yellow or orange group mob would chew a solo player of any class.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dawgrin on <span class=date_text>01-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:20 PM</span>

<DIV>Yeah, go spend money on gear and solo a ^^ orange, then tell us how it went.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, that quote referred to normal non-^^ encounters.</DIV>

<DIV>I have been solo since birth on my Pally.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I just dinged 22 before I logged last night, so have not tried anything yet, BUT, I solo'd those settlers all night last night at level 21.  Your problem is there are two levels of Blue ^^.  19 and 20.  The 20 eat me alive but the 19 can't even land a hit after the first few rounds.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have found that I can solo any ^^ Blue I find that is two levels lower.  My strat.  Use a shield and the best one hand you can find.  My AC is 1238 at 22. HP are around 1100, was roughly 1050HP and 1120AC at 21.  I pull with my nuke and hit charge as soon as he gets to me, then start HO, hit my ward, finish HO, charge again, start HO, etc...  After he eats the second ward he never hits me again and I dont cast a third ward..  I find the right Blue ^^ is easier then a orange solo and provides much more exp and loot.  The problem is finding enough of these mobs to fight constant.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So what I do is run into TS, get a task from the dude in the beginning of TS, run to the field and con all of them, kill the 19's and go do my task, then con the new pop's and kill the 19's again on my way back out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then I zone out, and rezone in TS2(provided there is one open) do turn in (1.5exp plus the kills is about 4% total per task and only takes ten minutes), then con the TS2 fields and repeat.  This worked well for five or so rounds then they were all 20 so I had to stop.  I was still 21.9 and went to fangbreakers and solo'd the green ^^ skellies in the keep and the Blue groups on the point till I dinged.  Took roughly three solid hours to level 21 to 22.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think Pally is the best solo class I have seen.  But with any class what you need is the right mob.  Tonight I will try the 20 mobs, if they dont work I may go back to spiders in between respawns of 19's.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also I havent been there for a while but the hidden vale was too tough for me a couple levels ago.  Might try there.  It is near the TS ent in Ant.  SH is lame and you have to go too far in to find a mob that may or may not kill you, CoB is too tough, or was at 21 anyway.  </DIV>

<DIV>Thanks for the input, I'm going to try out these techniques as soon as i get home. I dinged 22 maybe a week or so back and haven't really touched my paladin at all. Now i'm excited to get through lvl 22 (i'm halfway through it) </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>thanks guys  you're all awesome</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Am I the only one who feels bad about finishing trapper Borgus' quests of slaughtering wholesale antelope or killing deer in antonica? They ARE cute.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One good thing...soloing the Green group mobs I believe has a much better chance of dropping a chest for you than if you kill bunches of Solo mobs, no matter what level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And just to be clear, soloing yellow and an occasional orange SOLO mob is entirely doable, but I don't seem to be able to kill any blue group mobs. </DIV>

I am a jeweler so all my jewelry is top notch. But I am finding that much of it I am replacing with dropped items now, Spectral Dragoon Medalion, Pallidium Band, Specral Dragoon Belt. When I hit 24 I will be using tier four crude. I did AQ's on my Chanter, this guy I just buy for and level so I can catch my guild. Armor Mantle of Madness, Bracer of THunder, Plate Gauntlets of Hate, Scourge Warrior Leggings, Boots of the Grave, Stormshield, Rest is Pristine Vanguard. Ok, so 22.6 now. I have been solo'n the ^^ Blue level 20 farmers. THe the doubles seem to hit me too often and I end up running away. The trick is all level 19, and all ^^ Farmers. Never even have to ward on the farmers. They take me donw to near half and by the time they hit big again I have recovered by procing. Getting roughly 1.5 blue per kill. Always have a new mob up after each one so no down time.

Soloing even con group mobs is possible post level 40 (outdoor, few mob, areas works best), though it takes a long timeNote, this is a kiting methodPut up your horsePull with Implacable WrathStart running (in circles works best)Cast Omen of Battle, Shatter Will, and Refusal of Grace until the mob is dead or you run out of power.

I would also recommend that if you have the money, spend it on jewelry. The AC for each piece should be close to your level. For example, my lvl 27 Pally's jewelry is all AC 28-31. 7 pieces of jewelry = 202 AC alone. My total AC is 1679 <A href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=217337205" target=_blank>http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/pplayer.vm?characterId=217337205</A> In addition, I purchased a Firwood Kite shield from the broker, paid over 2G, but sooooo worth it. AC was raised for it after update. So I think it's around 250AC with magic affinity. There's a good quest for a helm in The Baubleshire. Find a guy named Spindelcog - if I remember, may be in the Exchange. You'll need to spend 12S to buy the primer so you can speak with him. He sends you out on a mini-AQ for the Spindelcog Tinkerhelm in TS. It's Green to me now but would be perfect for you.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck - Lem. </DIV>

Which is noticeable mainly with ^^ mobs.At L24 I can solo yellow/orange con'd mobs if no adds join, but trying to do more then 1 normally doesn't work out well. The suggestions here are right on, with making sure your jewerly is oranage level to you for the most AC you can get.I still to often see Pally's/SK's with grey/green jewels when I inspect them (I like seeing how I rank in terms of AC, resists to other Pallys)
