Ok, I'm sure this has been covered, but couldn't find anything about what I'm looking for specifically. How does the rating on the two weapons work? Basically, 2 handers in EQ1 used to give you a dmg bonus from str just because it was a 2 hander and was meant to be a huge dmg machine. So is thier dmg upped above and beyond what a 1 hander would be or is it just better to use a 1 hander with the same rating as the 2 hander and a shield to get the benefits of a shield's stats and blocking?

I'm a new SK as well, and I asked about this a couple of days ago.

The consensous was this: Use 2H while soloing, and use a 1H with Shield while grouped, so that you can gain more aggro.

I don't think there is a bonus like there was in EQ1.

Stats-wise, and damage-wise, a 1-handed weapon is 75% of a 2-handed weapon, and Dual Wield is 50% of a 2-handed, assuming Tier, and Quality is the same.If I'm soloing yellow (+1 to +2 levels) or lower, I tend to go all out with the 2 hander. If I'm soloing +3 to +4 levels, I'll tend to go defensive with a shield.I'm pretty much the same when it comes to groups.I did the Obelisk last weekend with some Guildies. I was a lvl 40 (or so) SK, and they were all high 50s and 60s mentored down. (hunting Named for AP mainly).Bear in mind that a lvl 63 Ranger Mentored down to 40 is *way* stronger than a lvl 40 Ranger. The group was Me, Templar, Ranger, Conjuror, and Assassin. I had no issues locking down mobs, and holding aggro.By the time we got to the lvl 44 mobs, I had switched to full defensive (and had gained a level or two. ). The Ranger only got aggro if he pulled, and the Assassin only got Aggro when he used assassinate. Conjuror wasn't going *all* out, but he told me he just wasn't using Dumbfire pets.Aggro management in that group situation was not a problem, in the slightest. As for ratings in general: the higher the better. There's no 'hidden' stats on the items, so a 2-handed will always be more highly rated than a 1-handed (everything else being equal).
