View Full Version : The "Gap" between lvl 19 and lvl 20

<DIV>Yesterday, I was the Main Tank ('cause I was the only one I guess) in a group in Fallen Gate, everybody beeing 20+ but me (I was still 19). I noticed 2 things and I'd like to read what you think about it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First: I was trying to do my best, and I succeed mantaining the aggro, and had my rune up everytime I could use it and all those things. But even with 2 healers in the group, they couldn't keep me alive some times due to the mobs hitting too hard. I died 3 times for beeing hit 4xx-3xx-6x in a row. But when I died, a predator (who was lvl 20 or perhaps 21) had no big problem tanking the mob. I was told that when you hit 20 your AC raises a lot (appart from the fact that you can use heavy armor). Is this true?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Second: I got way more exp. killing green cons with two arrows ^^ solo than killing yellow cons ^^ or even orange cons ^^ in a group. I believe this has been done this way to prevent powerleveling, but my level "gap" with the rest of the group was 1 or 2 levels. Perhaps it's a thing to be looked at.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance and excuse me for the spelling. I'm not english speaker as you can see <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

My AC at level 20 (with a Mariner's shield) is 827, unbuffed, 772 unbuffed AC without the shield. Unbuffed health is 742 (around 900 when buffed by our 23 cleric). I have yet to start my Cold Forged armor quests (which will improve those numbers).Sounds like you were in too deep for your level in FG. My *personal* rule of thumb for FG is that the main tank pretty much needs to be 20-21 if you want to venture deeper then the entrance. At level 17 (not the main tank), I was basically a chew toy and the MA who was level 19 didn't last much longer. If you're the tank, load up on every defensive item you can (SKs are versatile that we can switch from offensive stance to defensive stance through equipment and spells). That means using a shield, upgrading Knights Stance to the best you can afford (and using it), and any other defensive buffs (and get your SA to loan you AC-HP-etc).Also, make sure that all of your armor is white-orange and fully repaired (blue is okay, but green-grey armor is almost worthless).

<DIV>ok for anyone that does not know, if you are under lvl 20 in a group with even just 1 lvl 20+ your xp WILL SUCK! alot of players dont know this. the rest of us have found out the hard way. its just something about when you hit 20. if you need a group bad or only need a lil xp, go for it. however do not be MT. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i do believe your AC does go up some when you hit 20.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Just a few days ago the devs put in a good and BAD patch.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First they increased hp and damage of ALL characters over level 20.  WOo HOO....yay for level 20's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Next they increased the hp and damage of all MOBS over level 20.  Whoa...what...wait a minute here.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At level 19, to fight something equal to your level(green) you'll get approx 1/3% per kill....and unless your super tank...you'll loose good big a power and health.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, to get about 1/2%-1% your going to need to kill things level 20-21.  Blue-white.  But low and behold...they just smoke your butt.  This became very apparent with my level 19scout(when he wa 19).  I was 80% to level 20...I was fighting granite basilisk the day before the patch...I'd get 1% per kill.  I'd be at half health and power when the fight ended. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Day after patch, I fight same basilisk.  In 3 hits I died.  THREE hits.  That thing plastered me against the wall.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically...your going to find the biggest bump in this game is 19-20....after 20 you should be grouping with others and not have much trouble getting xp. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The DEVs really should have changed it to scale through ALL of those begining 20 levels...instead of making a huge hump like that to get over.</DIV>

<DIV>Spend a bit more time in the wailing caves, in the lower levels.  Or don't travel past the first "main room" of FG.</DIV>

<blockquote><hr>WuphonsReach wrote:>Also, make sure that all of your armor is white-orange and fully repaired (blue is okay, but green-grey armor is almost worthless).<hr></blockquote>I don't see what armor con has to do with anything, I'd just use the items with the best AC and stats what ever color they may be. And as for fully repaired I don't think that matters either, only matters if it reaches 0.

Time will tell (the log parsers are probably chugging away) whether armor con matters. They're probably also trying to figure whether medium armor (same stats) is better then light armor or very light armor.I've only heard rumor about unrepaired armor having issues... I tend to fix mine as soon as possible.
