<DIV>No this isn't a whine thread before you ask, and try not to plunge head first into flaming me with the "who knows whats in store".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what EQ2 plans for it's classes.....I'll try to communicate what I mean as best I can.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm a Shadowknight, obviously.....is EQ2 completely linear when it come to professions and quests with the exception of the level 10 and 20 hallmark quests, in the sense that there are no SK specific quests, no Evil storyline, just everyone doing the same quests?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll set it out in some questions, see if anyone knows or has any idea where were heading.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Do we ever get to join the militia/military and quest/fight for the Overlord? (ignoring the "join the militia" quests that you don't really join the militia to do).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Would be nice to have some sort of rank/prestige to go with serving the Overlord.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2) Thus far Freeport is devoid of any continuing storyline related quests with the exception of the Hallmarks, which are very short, I know it's the starting isle if you like......but I'd like to look forward to something other than just a change of scenery on the next isle, anyone any idea if there is some underlying plot to Norath or is it just a collection of quests to complete that bare little relevance to each other?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically I love the game, I love the profession......but with the exception of scenery changes and new spells there doesn't look like much to feed the imagination, anyone point me in the right direction.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Much appreciated <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>well said.   I for one would love to have a major quest ... i hesitate to use the word Epic .. but along those lines i could care less if there was a weapon at the end of the quest or maybe upgrades along the way as we went. like level 20 we get out class sword .. level 30 we get to imbue it with dark powers of some kind and so on so when we reach level 50 we already have a main weapon to use.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>this idea I find appealing and hope others do as well .. e.g. a new weapon or armor upgrade quest (hallmark) every 10 levels is not asking to much</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>well it is just food for thought anyways</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lkar</DIV> <DIV>Guk Server</DIV>

<DIV>I'm a 25 SK atm, but i can't realy say i feel "Unholy". I don't know what Sony has in store for us SK's, but i realy would like some quests to discover our darkside/unholy feeling and get some cool stuff/bonusses with them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Aroc, 25 Barbarian SK on Najena</DIV><p>Message Edited by xnoopy on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>12:53 AM</span>

I'd like to see additional "hallmark" quests as well at 30/40/50. Something where you have to upgrade your level 20 sword would be interesting... but they'd need to provide a sub-quest route to re-obtain the sword if you got rid of it prior to 30.I look at levels 1-20 (maybe up through 25) as the "newbie" levels anyway. A lot of classes get their last "key" skills in the mid-teens and some of the class-defining skills for the sub-classes come in the early 20s. It took me almost to level 20 to get a feel for how to work within a group (and we're still figuring a lot of that out).

<DIV>I agree with what everyone has said.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I want to bring up a little more.  The only basis I have for this is playing my EQ SK to lvl 65 and feeling like I was a dark knight.  In EQ there were many different things that helped make you a better SK.  You had to venture out for your Harm Touch spell, quest for the epic weapon in areas of darkness, and was blessed with the Unholy Steed.  It just seems that EQ2 is a carebear movie to the first one.  There is nothing really specific so far that I see for any class.  The rest of classes I could care less, I only look forward to what the SKs will gain from.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now a complaint.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Like so many things, class balancing is important.  Whats with not being able to equip a ranged item?  I guess as SKs we must be a lousy shot.  I dont really care about shooting any mobs from distance, since Im use to pulling with spells, but now we loose stats.  I cant speak for the other classes, but where we could before (EQ) gain alittle more stat buffage, we lose because we cant place anything in there.  Hell they have already taken away the other earing slot, guess sony is favoring a more hip toon?  I would like to see a quest developed to allow SKs the ability to equip a bow.  Have us venture all over hell and back, then reward our efforts with ability to strike down from afar.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Next, we dont look evil enough.  How do you differentiate us from other classes, especially do-gooder-pallys.  I would like to see swarms of flies or decay emanate from us, kinda like in Fable.  Sony bragged about how hard they worked on this one, but EQ still holds the candle as far as seperating the classes and EQ2 is cast in its shadow.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Darkelfs, the epitome of evil and dweller of the dark.  How come I cant see in the dark like I use too.  Did we evolve and loose that ability to only have it replaced by purple vision.  Hell it would be nice to have it, or even the abililty to refine that skill allowing mobs to show up in a different color, like a heat vision or something.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have rambled on long enough.  I just dont want Sony to forget who is the true embodiment of evil......The Shadow Knight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Argolic</DIV> <DIV>Dark Elf 19 Crusder....Future Shadowknight</DIV> <DIV>Unrest Server</DIV> <DIV>Iron Legion</DIV>

The ultravision changes are a bit lame, hopefully the look gets tuned at some point. So far as not being able to equip a range item goes, all that's been said is that we can't use bows, afaik. That's not to suggest that we can't <i>ever</i> have <i>anything</i> in our ranged slot.So far as 'looking more evil', I sure as hell don't want flies circling around making me look filthy all the time, and visible 'decay' would1. Get old pretty fast2. Add additional video lag3. Make every other class want to have some visible effect that would do the same thingsGain a reputation as a character. You've all done the SK quest (well, most of you), you should be aware that just having killed some Dervishes doesn't make you a paragon of evil... It's a path you've decided to walk down, not one you instantly master. Also, the <i>true embodiment of evil</i> bit... I imagine Necros would likely argue that point with you, or Warlocks, or Inquisitors, or what have you. Playing your character will allow people to make their own judgements about you, which will be significantly more resounding than any particle effect could ever be.

None of your above points were available. Spells where store bought, there was maybe 1 or 2 SK only weapons that were dropped, no horses till the 3rd expansion. Before fear and the class armor quests everyone who could get their hands on it wore rubicite. I would say in general EQ2 does have a big leg up on EQ1 when it was first released, however I do agree with your point. I would like to see more class specific items, but I'm not dissapointed so far. I don't mind everyone looks alike at this level I only hope at higher levels there will be more indiviuality.

<DIV>Some good info here, glad I started it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's easy to forget this is a new game sometimes, were probably being overharsh by benchmarking EQ2 with EQ.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EQ had years to evolve, were expecting it to be right since they've had enough practice, I suppose we ain't that lucky, it's going to take time I guess.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Still, it's going to spoil this game if they take too long to implement the profession specific content, I'd be happy with questing long and hard to get a set of SK armour, but again thats high level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A horse upgrade is essential IMHO, but not at low level, I'm thinking 40-45+, hopefully were not talking uber mobs with several groups to defeat and people squabling over the prizes (although I'm impressed that quest items are recieved by all group members, not just the lucky sob who wins the loot lotto), I'd happily quest over a period of weeks for a dark mount, possibly even armour for my mount.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I think about it all I want his SOE to shed a little light on what content is to come, just a glance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I played SWG, I played it from release in the US (improted to the UK), I levelled my Master Bounty Hunter through all the bugs, the irrating problems, the nerfing....I did nothing but level and train and mission to get that MBH title.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When all the smoke had cleared and I had the title I decided to go exploring, in one day I realised I had seen everything there was to see during my training, the game lacked any real content.....it took a substantial portion of my life away and I had gained nothing from it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I bought EQ2 despite SOE's past history with SWG on the basis of EQ's continuing success, my thoughts being that they released so many expansions, and from what friends tell me EQ never lacked content.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can't afford to make a mistake again, time is precious, I'm hoping EQ2 is worth the investment.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I think we must just wait.  Ill bet 20 plat that with one of the next expansions, pvp, epics, and lots more will eventually be in.  Ill even go so far down the line that we'll be fighting the gods again eventually. )  mabey not,  but reading the pre-game posts from devs,  they give alot of hints of future plans for expansions. after all, if they give us everything now,  we wont wanna buy the xpansions ) </DIV>

<DIV>I am not disappointed at all by EQ2, dont mistake what I was saying.  I just felt that playing EQ as an SK was more specific then it is in EQ2.  I know that in time it will change or might not.  Either way I will continue to play.  I like so many things with this game over EQ.  Its not the content or the game play that concerns me, its the identity of an SK.  The thought of armor for my steed would be awesome.  I think more so in this one then in the other one, Sony is playing off the player presitge  more then anything else.  I think its great.  You work hard you should be able to flash what you have minus just your armor.  The new titles and placing trophies in your house are great for building that ego factor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know Sony learned alot from the EQ, I just hope to see more class specificity.</DIV>

<DIV>Wouldnt surprise me that at some point in the future all the class braches split again into something else.. figher-->  Crusader--> Shadow Knight---> something else.   The possiblities are endless</DIV>

I think graphical changes to our characters as we progress would make a nice change as well. Our armor should start looking more menacing and not look like pretty do gooder armor. Ours should be darker colors with spikes and stuff coming off them. Our characters themselves should start looking more evil. Possibly darker color skin and/or eyes. Again thats all graphical, but it would distinguis us from the qeynos crowd. Plus it would show our change from our somewhat good nature at lower levels to finally progressing towards our evil nature.Extra hallmark or specific quests/epics would be super cool. Along with cool armors/weapon loots for completing.
