<DIV>OK, I am a newbie and I want to pursue the shadowknight subclass. I just started last night and I am a level six evil aligned fighter. How do I choose crusader and become a shadowknight?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>----HollowKnight</DIV>

At level 9, start the Crusader class quest. At level 17, make sure you're in Freeport (if you started in Qeynos, you must do the betrayal quest). At level 18-19, do your Shadowknight sub-class quest.EQ2 slowly funnels you into your specialization.

<DIV>Okay, you're getting a tad ahead. =)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The first thing you'll want to do is read the Fighter and Crusader forums. Fighter has alot of great information for levels 1-9. Crusader will keep you busy for levels 10-19 - so be sure to read through those forums. Most of the information here is related to becoming an SK once already a crusader or SK related quests, which is why you didn't find anything on becoming a Crusader.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically I'm going to give you a brief rundown off memory, since its been a while since I did the quest. As I'm sure you know, you've already selected your class (fighter). Your next step is selecting your Sub-Class (Crusader). Your only profession choice when you get closer to level 20 will be Shadowknight if you remain evil, so that wont be a problem (thats an entirely different quest).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Unlike becoming a Fighter, you have to complete something called a Hallmark quest in order to achieve the Sub-Class of Crusader. You cannot begin this quest until you are level 8. Once you reach level 8 head to North Freeport. There are two rather large buildings side by side on the south western side of North Freeport. Go inside the Temple of War building, there will be a sign outside identifying it. To your left is an ogre. Talk to him and take his mission.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hes going to show you what its like to be each of your three Sub-Class choices (Warrior, Brawler, and Crusader). These are three seperate, however easy, quests that you will have to complete in order to continue. Your first task will be hunting a specific type of monster in the Sprawl. The task will explain what monster you need to kill, you'll have to take down a few of them (five if i remember), and it's pretty straight forward. You should be able to do this alone at level 8 if you use your Herioc Oppertunity (Start your combo, use a melee attack ability, taunt. Rince repeat, throw in some kicks while the HO recharges. Practice this, as it will be your primary weapon in soloing in the future as well). To get to the Sprawl head to Big Bend (this can be reached from any docks in or around Freeport, travel within freeport bell, and click Big Bend). Then simply follow the map to Sprawl. You can also reach Sprawl from commonlands, but you're better off zoning in from Big Bend. Return to the ogre when done.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Your second task is what its like to be a Brawler. You will need to go talk to some specific NPC's in various taverns around Freeport. The quest journal (which can be accessed by pressing J on your keyboard) will explain who you need to find and where you need to go. It's fairly self explanitory again, so just follow the quest journals instructions. Your character will appear to punch or kick them to send them a message, its pretty fun to watch the NPC's squirm =). Return to the ogre when complete.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Your third task is to show you what its like to be a crusader. You'll have to talk to some NPC's again and use words to make them fear you this time. It's fun and fits our role nicely. Just make sure to act like a Crusader and you'll complete it with absolute ease, they'll fear you in no time. Again, use your quest journal and follow its instructions. The NPC's and their locations are listed on the journal. Once complete, it will instruct you to again return to the ogre in north freeport.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Finally, he'll ask you which sub-class fits you most. Select Crusader. You'll then recieve your final quest to become a Crusader. If memory serves, you need to go to East Freeport. Head to the docks and go down the main dock. You'll see some NPC's start walking and they'll speak to each other and head back down the dock, towards the city. Follow them. They'll go inside a door. This is a single person instance, you'll have to go it alone. Follow them inside, you'll load into a dungeon. If you're level 8, it will be imperative that you use your Herioic Opp's - You'll be going up against grouped mobs that I believe conn'ed yellow at 8. I was able to handle it at 8 no problem, though - So just play smart and you should be fine. Upon defeating all the mobs, you'll speak to the NPC in the back of the room. No matter how much they beg you to let them go to Qeynos, you must stand firm and act like a Crusader of freeport. Don't let them go. Eventually they'll give in and surrender and you will return to the ogre yet again. Fin. You've achieved the sub-class of Crusader. Note that you will NOT become a Crusader until you achieve level 10, however - But you're set in stone and ready to level to 10 now. When you complete the final step of the quest, even if you're level 8 you'll get your crusader item reward however, just hang onto it until you can use it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once you reach level 18, you can begin the quest to become a Shadowknight. It begins in the Freeport Militia House in West Commons. There are posts on this forums that explains what you must do, so I'll leave that for later or another post. When you're ready for that quest, make sure you have a friend to help you. You will need help getting through Serpant Sewers in order to reach another instance zone for the Shadowknight Profession quest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In any case, goodluck on your progression to Crusader and I hope this helps <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Oh, and yes - as the poster above me stated... If you are a Qeynos Citizen you MUST complete the Betrayal Quest to Freeport by level 17 or you are stuck becoming a paladin, because you will not be able to join Freeport. In addition to that, if you ARE currently a Qeynos Citizen, the quest walkthrough I gave you above does NOT apply, since you'll have to do the Qeynos version of that crusader quest... and I know nothing about that. So if you're a Qeynos Citizen, find information on becoming a Crusader within Qeynos, do that... Then at level 15 start your Betrayal Quest (theres information all over the forums about that) and join Freeport before you level past 15. Then you can do the shadowknight quest as usual.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you're already a freeport citizen, don't worry about anything I just said. The post above will suite you fine =P</DIV>
