What am I doing wrong?

<DIV>I recently bought a pair of Cestiis and Cestus' so I can work on my slashing and piercing, however they don't seem to be moving up.  I equip a pair so as to increase my chances of skill ups.  I've fought gray, green and blue mobs, quite a few actually, over 50 w/o a single skill up.  am I doing something wrong?  thanks...</DIV>

If you examine any of those weapons and inspect the Skill it will say Crushing. The reason is that the to hit value is based from our crushing check and not from our piercing or slashing, although the weapon will do piercing or slashing. You aren't doing anything wrong <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>In fact, that's the exact reason why the Cestus and Cestii were introduced into the game... as fighters need to hit things to keep aggro (especially us brawlers), and anything crushing immune basically outright excluded us from the fight, let alone being MT. So they introduced these weapons to give us slashing and piercing weapons.. they just kept them off the crushing skill, since they are basically punch daggers, etc.</P> <P>What I don't get is why they haven't brought in crushing weapons (en masse) for Scouts. I remember when they finally did in EQ1, I got my rogue a blackjack, nice little dual wieldable baton. Really, I'm not sure why they don't make Sai's crushing (considering that's the authentic, and not hollywood TMNT concept), and allow Fighting Batons (but not quarterstaffs) for Scouts.</P>
