Can you tell us how the different subclasses will rank in relative damage potential?
Steve "Moorgard" Danuser: Without giving the precise DPS numbers we intend each class to have, I can list how the classes will relate to one another in damage output. There are basically five groupings that classes fall into, from highest amount of damage output to the lowest.

First group:

Wizard/Warlock

Assassin/Ranger

Second group:

Conjurer/Necromancer (using damage pet)

Brigand/Swashbuckler

Third group:

Coercer/Illusionist, Conjurer/Necromancer (using tank pet)

Troubador/Dirge

Bruiser/Monk

Fourth group:

Berserker/Shadowknight

Paladin/Guardian

Fifth group:

Fury/Warden

Defiler/Mystic

Inquisitor/Templar

Keep in mind that these aren't absolutes. A Guardian who concentrates on damage output and upgrades his or her offensive abilities could surpass a Berserker who focuses on defensive capabilities. These are simply the general guidelines we're following where, all things being equal, the classes will be organized.

The thing with class balance, though, is that all things are *never* equal. So much of the damage output of a class depends on how that class is played that it simply isn't possible for anyone to guarantee that a given class will always perform at a certain level under every circumstance. However, the above list should at least give players an idea of the direction our numbers will be taking.

My question in return from that would be, ok how does the basic tanking ability rank out then?

Thanks for the post though. Good to see this stuff and get a basic feel for the way things are headed.

There you have it. We will be outdamaged by dirges who in fact are a utility class same as coercers troubadors and illusionists. Great! That is total BS. I fail to understand why someone would push for this outcome. We are gonna be the worst of the tanks and cant even outdamage a utility class. THATS SWEET. Thanks SOE and thanks all you who welcome this. Welcome the bruiser/monk [Removed for Content] class.

Well, what I am wondering, is if the damage adjustment is going to...

A) Increase damage for the classes that shoudl be in the top tier.

B) Lower Damage to all teh classes in the lower Tiers, or

C) A Combination of both.

I severely hope Bruiser DPS Isn't lowed too much. maybe a little I coudl understand, but Bruisers are known for very very good soloability, and I have spent half of my time on this game soloing. As long as I am still able to effectively solo, I will be happy. The tanking increase that we may or may not get to help offset this nerf will still help us weather we are tanking for a group, or soloing. Increased MItigation means living longer inbetween using Ignore Pain/Hurt/Agony. Hell it might atcually help us endure fights longer, and increase soloability a great deal! I just pride myself on being able to do very nice damage, especially with certain attacks, like 100 hand slap/Crushing Fury. I woudln't feel bad if normal auto attacks did less damage, but I hope my Specials are still deadly!

-Crabbok, lvl 49 Bruiser Faydark Server

It said we'd be in the same neighborhood with them. It's not too late to roll a warlock.

I find this amusing in a twisted way.

As with the earlier poster, I am not sure why what is a DPS class, is being grouped with the utility classes.

For clarification:

Is our DPS being balanced with Enchanters/Bards on a group DPS or solo DPS basis?

Does this balancing take into account scout HOs?

Will this involve changes to our combat arts - some removed or replaced?

I wonder if they are factoring in the +dps that the enchaner and bard brings to the group in the form of haste, str, dps buffs, procs, etc...

Because if they are, we could be sitting pretty for a fighter. Even if they aren't, to get lumped into a group with a scout and a mage after the rebalancing isn't a bad thing for a fighter when it comes to dps ranking.

DPS is a measurement of both raw damage output, and buffs to enchance your self or others damage output.

Thanks for that clarification Jez. Now I dont feel so bad about our DPS. I wasnt taking into account those classes ability to boost the groups DPS and didnt no that was factored in.

If they did, you'd think we would be with the other DPS classes, the sorcerers and predators, wouldn't you? Denial ain't just a river in Egypt. Oy!

Ok well there goes the fun. I'm a solo player for the most part cuase of my work schedule ect.. I really Really hope this does not screw us up cause up to this point i have been somewhat happy. Hopfully you will make these changes and not touch the mobs (make them harder) cause thisis what always ends up happneing were one day you are soloing somewhere and then you log in the next day after the patch and you get your !@#$% kicked by the same mob.

O yeah and one suggestion. It would be nice if we can get on the test server and have a char the lvl of our main. The reason for this is that right now i go on test server and play a bruiser but i'm looking at the changes from the point of view of my chars lvl on test. So if my char is 25 on test its not the same if you played with the changes at lvl 40 ect.. Just my 2 cents.

Yes my typing bites - move on

Good to see our damage output above the other fighter archtypes Of course we aren't a DPS class, we are tankage. I wouldn't expect us to be higher then a rogue...

Better start practicing your tanking and pray SOE doesn't scr*w up. ( ps: anyone remember release, when there were like 20 scouts and 15 mages for every fighter/healer pair ? )

I think bard/enchanter type DPS when considering their buffs for group DPS is more than enough, especially since we can do crush and scouts can't. But we'll see.
