<DIV>Quick question hopefully.... How is DPS calculated between duel weild versus 2 handed weapons? Obviously you don't just add the 2 DPS numbers together from the DPS column in /weapon, or on the pop up menu. If that was true my mastercrafted lvl 42 hand to hand weapons would be equal to a little better than a 58 dps 2 hander (pop up menu on my player made pristine hand wraps list them at 29 and some change dps for each hand) and i dont even think 2 handers get that number until the late 50's.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So for example if I have a 2hander that lists 45 dps on the pop up menu, what would be the formula/mathematical equation to figure out what hand to hand weapons it would be equal too? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If someone could just post the formula so I can do the math at every tier it would be great, thanks in advance</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ashenhand Stonefist</DIV> <DIV>48 monk</DIV> <DIV>permafrost</DIV>

I don't think duel wield is THAT much more actually. I went from duel wielding to 1H on my main and didn't even notice a decline in dps. I say, try them out, parse a few times and see what you like best.<div></div>

<DIV>Thats the trick I would like to find a mathematical Formula so I dont have to blow 10 plat or 15 hours of questing to get items that will be less dps than my current set up. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Would like to find something such as ( ya I know this isnt the formula but for example) Main hand dps + 1/4th off hand DPS = total DPS potential of dual weild set up.</DIV> <DIV>So I can compare that to say Heirophants crook which is 45 dps and see which would be the better weapon.... instead of spending 10 hours on a quest for an item I will never use. Or spending 4 plat on a Fabled bo Staff that is lower dps and attuned so I would only be able to sell it back for 20 gold. Hard enough to get money in this game without wasteing it hand over fist.</DIV>

You are talking about the Damage Rating, right? DR?As I recall, adding the DRs of dual wield weapons gives a larger number than the 1 twohander. However, with all else equal, the twohander seems to get a little more "bang for it's buck". Not sure if that's changed, but it was the case many updates ago.Something to the order of 90% of the added up DRs of the dual wields equals the comparitive value for the twohander. So two 58.9 DR weapons would equate to around 106 DR twohander. However, there are a lot of other factors. Two weapons means you have two procs usually. If you can also adorn them, you can get even more procs, or better yet, twice the utility (get a lifetap AND power tap proc going). Also, the straight up stats on two dual wields tend to outstrip most twohander stats... which tend to be more broad in benefit. You can usually find better focusing stat weapons with dual wields (Str, Agi, Sta, +Defense, etc)... many staves are made to cater to a wider range of folks (many end up with Wis and Int, or procs that barely, if at all, benefit the fighter side).Once you get used to the way stats look on weapons, you'll get an eye for it. These days, I can look at a two hander, or dual wield weapon, and know pretty much immediately it's relative value. Pretty sure I'm not alone in this regard.<div></div>

<p>I am torn between this as well.</p><p>I have Fists of Pain/Bashing (adorned), however when I have to switch to my (gimped) 2h (91.6DR), my dps is higher than with the fists (which are both around 57.78 each).... wondering if its a haste issue....</p>

<p>You should be able to get the same DPS with Dual-Wield or a 2-hand weapon. It depends on the weapon(s) you get and other factors such as Haste.</p><p> If you have very fast dual-wield weapons your haste may no be as effective since there is a limit to how fast they can swing. If you have DW weapons that have a high enough delay that you arent wasting Haste you can maximize your DPS with them. The same thing goes for a 2-hand weapon. Keep in mind that adding up the DR on DW weapons doesnt give you the resulting DPS. I dont know the formula for figuring out DW DPS but I know its a bit less than if you just add the 2 numbers.</p>
