does it ever make sense to fight with a single one handed weapon as a monk?

If you really wanted you could but the only offhand I am aware of you could hold would be the Shield fo the magi which isn't much of a buckler as it doesn't have protection, block, or real tank stats. In reality your better off getting a solid 2 hand weapon with a +10 defense augment on it or two dualwield weapons with +defense or deflection when possible

I currently use Fist of Pain and Bashing which works well for my tanking and when needed I can pull out the Stonestaff of Striking and with the adornment offers a nice modifer to my defenses

SoE has been ignoring my wish for a parrying secondary only weapon for brawlers from way back in T5. Think dual wield with 1/3 the damage of a normal dual wield weapon but + deflection/parry/defense or whatever and more than the +3-5 you find on normal items. Who knows maybe there is a defensive dual wield weapon pair in dof lol. that would be a nice find. Two high avoidance fist weapons lowish dps with a deflect bonus when you have both on.

Message Edited by Jobeson on 12-02-2006 09:31 PM
