Well, I'd kinda recommend the AQ series (Selwyn's Errands, starts in SQ from a halfling underneath a big tree near the NQ gate) once you hit 20 just so you can have some distinctively monk armor that's actually sorta useful at that level (even if it is yellow-orange), although once you get the gi from the last quest you can ditch the rest and keep the look. Dwarven Workboots (These Boots Were Made For...) and Greater Lightstone (The Return of the Light) are good choices at that level as well, I'd say; even if you have better gear for those slots, if you're in a guild it's hard to beat the amount of status you get from Heritage Quests. Really any of the non-weapon HQ's are good when you get high enough to do 'em. Brawlers kinda get the short end of the stick when it comes to the weapon HQ's, unfortunately (there are only 3 HQ weapons that are brawler-usable that I'm aware of, one's a 2h staff, the other two are 1h maces).

At higher levels-namely in the level 50 range and beyond--there are quest lines that give you a pretty nice weapon. The first is the prismatic quest that you recieve by doing the draconic language and talking to Naggy (the exact name slips me at the moment). Then the Peacock weapon series in DoF, and then the Claymore line in KoS. As for heritage weapons, monks are able to use the Wurmslayer which can be either 2 handed or DW (Though the quest requires you to be of a certain crafting level and kill some of the Awakended dragons).

In order to complete the wurmslayer quest, you're going to find yourself more than well equipped from raiding on a regular basis before you kill Lord Vyemm and Harla Dar for it anyway.

Thanks all.

So, it sounds like there are no lower level quests that I need to do just to gain critical Monk abilities?

(I'm new here, recently arrived from WoW, in which there are class specific quest lines that are critical for your key abilities - wanted to be certain that wasnt the case here).

Nope, 'cept for Devastation Fist from the first AP, until you hit 51 you get all your abilities (at apprentice 1) as you level.

One nice monk item is the Blood Drenched Gi usable at level 30. You get it through the Vampire Adventure pack, as well as the spell, Devastation Fist, listed above. The Gi is dropped by vampires Rhayne T'Dax or Nilth T'Feyd (level 35 heroic mobs with buddies) in the first instance of The Mysterious Artifacts quest in the Tombs of Night. For details on how to do the quest, please see this post: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=6&message.id=21921&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

Good luck!

Quijana
