Which AA skill should I go with? Should I put the points in STR, AGI, or STAMINA?

I'm actually going with INT: it's almost all passive abilities, and the one weapon-specific ability is for fist-type weapons (wraps, knuckles, etc.), which are my preferred weapon type anyways. Kinda fun changing the facing on a mob for a couple of seconds to get some free back/flank attacks in, as long as it's not inconveniencing any scouts.

well there isnt just one specifc aa spec that works for all monks it depends on what you want.....my suggestions would be....

if you want to dps but have bad wepons go 4-4-8 str 4-4-8 sta 4-4-8 int

if you want dps and have good wepons id say 4-4-8 sta wis int

if you like to to tank 4-4-4-8 sta 4-4-4-8-8 int for the avoidence and mitigation for when your in a pinch.

or my build which i like for being a raider/tank which is a bit of a mix at 4-4-8-8-8 int 8-8-1 sta for the oh [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] mitagation, crit bonus, hp, sta debuff which is real nice

thats off the top of my head so hopefully the numbers are all correct, but most importantly look at the AAs and choose what you think would be best for your playstyle, maybe these templates can help a little with what you want to do with your toon.

Message Edited by RyanTSi on 07-11-2006 11:00 PM

also if you play on pvp server i hear that the final stamina spell is really nice.........it teleports you right to your target so could be real useful for runners.

It's nice that a topic like this came up, because I was just thinking about AA's for my monk. As a PvPer, and an occasional tank, I like to be slightly versatile between DPS and tanking abillity, depending on what comes up. So, what build would you guys suggest for a DPS oriented monk, that tanks from time to time.

Thanks

The setup I have found to be the best mix of dps and tanking is 4/4/4/5 sta 4/4/8/8/8 int. That makeup makes you more of a Hybrid char and is defiantly the most well balanced for PvP action. The brawler is supose to be a mix of dps and tanking so I dont see any reason into making my toon a tank or a dps. That would limit the roll i can fill in groups and you never want to nurf any of your strengths in a PvP setting.

For my tanking build, I went with:

INT 4-4-5-8

STA 8-4-8-8

I may trade out 3 points from my +STA line and give to increase my crit % - but we'll see. :smileywink:

This works well for me tanking and solo'ing. Plus, by keeping the proc and crit lines maxed out I still have the potential to keep my DPS up.

I went

4,4,8,8 INT

4,5,8,8 STA

seemed a good compromise for both dps and tankage for me.

If your weapons are not great tho, i would recommend INT and STR at 4,4,8,8 for both as the dps boost from STR is quite nice.

But really i dont think there is any 1 set of AA that is greatly better than any other, just depends on playstyle. so have fun swapping em about a bit till it gets too expensive and see what suits you

I tried eagle shriek, and I found the effect to be more usefull while soloing, and useless while tanking.

STA: 8 4 8 4 8

INT: 4 4 8

WIS: 1

Using that build i have now successfully tanked HoF.
