Hi all, im a 70Monk on storms server, lately iam getting bored on EQ2, i was wondering if i wouldnt go back on EQ1 and see the changement, i stoped EQ1 a little after PoP and Ykesha were out, never tried Lost dungeons of Norrath and such, but i have a good feeling of nostalgy when i think about the monk i was playing back then.Have EQ1 changed a lot ? Could it be still enjoyable ? What does compare new EQ1 monk, to EQ2 Monk thx in advance

I still go back and play my monk sometimes. Something about EQlive that draws players back to it. I mean I know players that have taken 2year breaks went back and still had a blast. More AAs more levels and lots of healing potions and stuff help the game alot. You would prob have a blast. I am just so graphics loving I just decided to keep with EQ2 for good and play with my friends only once in a blue moon in EQlive.

eq1 has changed alot since pop.

they have taken some of the popular stuff from eq2 and put it in eq1. higher lvl monks on eq1 are awesome

i have a friend that plays a monk he is 16k when buffed and just destroyes things lol.

the problem is there is no real solo game at that lvl and i get tired of waiting for grps and such.

but the wos exp and dod and such are pretty good exp. there are some armor quests for the higher lvls also(if u call them quests hehe) plus some zone quests. and the allmighty anguish sigs.

personally i wish soe would combine the great parts of each game eq2 and 1 to make one great one

hope this helped alittle

I really loved my Beastlord in EQ1 but I left for EQ2 due to the lack of soloing at the highend. Looking for groups became a chore that I could stomach anymore. But I sure did love my Beastie!

Zappz

Warlock on Nek

I get the same feeling. However, I've come back before and have sworn to myself to quit for good. The problem with EQ1 is that you basically always need a group, or live to raid. Raiding usually takes 3-6 hours. Heh, grouping usually takes that long too! Just to camp a mob and get a piece of loot you want takes days/weeks depending on rarity.I just can't let EQ1 take my life over anymore, and so now I play EQ2 were I can make some progress even if I only have an hour or two to play.I must say with the new server going up in EQ1 I really really felt compelled to try it. The problem is that I know the long hours I'll need to play to re-equip my character and to keep an aggressive character.

I wish i could remember my account name and password for my EQ 1 account.... its been like 3 or 4 years since i've been on :smileysad:

My Monk is EQ1 was my Day one character (played one in Phase 4 too). He was as high as 54. At times when I could not get groups, I played my druid (born 3 weeks into release). He got as high as 51...so getting in groups was an issue.

LDoN got me playing again after a break and I played a Beastlord. Got him to 54. Now there was a sweet class.

But my first love was my monk. :smileyhappy:

If they could put EQ2 graphics into EQ1 I would go back in a heartbeat. Though fun, EQ2 seems to have stolen some of the life out of the classes by disecting them so much. I say get rid of Illusionist/Coercer and just make a chanter, get rid of Monk/Bruiser, and just put it back to monk....warrior, druid....etc. Ahh well, wishful thinking.

Yes Maker, yesterday we were speaking about "too many" class with my guild leader and officier. Our game population is getting low on french server, we have trouble recruiteing class needed for raids, and i was really wondering why make 24 ulra specialized class... oki there is/was the queynos/freeport thingy, but still, soon we have kelethan, i would be soe, i would clean the class, im not asking for a SWG NGE, dont get me wrong, but while a Paladin/shadowkinght have all the rights to exist in my mind, a Cleric/inquisitor... well who said cleric cant be evil ? I remeber a few meaning Dark Elf Clerics back from Karana

Trust me you dont want SWG NGE.. or anything like it...... frikin a years worth of work down the drain in one patch... I loved my jedi.... then i deleted him as soon as everyone and their dog could become one.

Yeah, lived through that NGE...and am now one retired MBH (played since launch). SOE just needs to find a happy medium. Don't expect it to happen any time soon, if ever, though.

Eqlive over all has tons of content to solo even at 70. You just never found the right spots. The last thing anyone can say tho is there are few solo mobs in EQlive.

Eq2s a smaller world with alot of solo content.

Either way both good games and will go down in history.

I actually prefer Monk from EQOA over EQ1 or EQ2. They were pure melee class in EQOA and kicked total butt.

Meh, the only different I noticed between 57 (well 60) vs 70? My group and raid DPS compared to Bruiser went down. Where before they had a slight lead in parsing, now it's a rather much larger and more noticable difference.

Regards,

Croaker

not to sound like a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn], but I probably will...My statement was a perspective based on where I am now. I played eq1 for years, and this off and on since release. To top it off, level 70 was only achievable a few months ago, so its not like the world of EQII should soley be determined on how a level 70 toon feels. There are 69 levels of play before it. True enough I can't say how a level 70 toon is, but a year ago I would have made the same comment and someone would say, "you cant really make that comment cause you're not level 60". Next year it will be, "you can't make that comment since you're not level 100". The level cap is an ever changing target with SOE, and perspectives are a snapshot in time.

The subject is changing from Eq1 vs Eq2 Monks into something totally differnt. Lets keep this subject on track. Both games have there plus and minus sides. And both are good games.
