<div></div>i don't really even understand what these are...i chose the other master's for fighting rats and the ability seems quite pointless. the ability does a bit of damage to the target but nothing on the order of what i'd expect from the 15min (or something crazy like that) cooldown. can anyone give me insight into what these master's rage abilities are good for and if either is advantageous in pvp? thx much =) <div></div><p>Message Edited by decesare on <span class=date_text>04-25-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:16 PM</span>

<DIV>NPC Mastery attacks only affects NPC's of that type. All the spell does is gives you a chance to proc extra damage on them when you attack. They might not seem very useful with the 15 minute recast time on them, but they do come in handy when you need just a bit more extra damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know the damage seems low at low levels, but that's normal. At the higher levels, the damage increases and can be very useful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The first one you are given is either Orc Mastery or Gnoll Mastery, because at the low level, you're either fighting Gnolls in Antonica or Orcs in the Commonlands.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They arn't usefull in PVP.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you plan on using either orc or gnoll mastery often, then think about which one you plan on fighting the most. There are both orcs and gnolls all over the game at all levels, especially at the high end.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The orcs have all of the continent of Zek, as well as the Clefts of Rujark in Desert of Flames.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gnolls can be found in the Living Tombs, Sinking Sands, and the Silent City in Desert of Flames, as well as the entire Splitpaw adventure pack...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So it's your call.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keep leveling up, and you'll get one to choose between Skeletons, Zombies, and Ghosts, since at around level 20, you're expected to start fighting in the undead dungeons of Stormhold or Fallen Gate, and so on and so forth.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Cusashorn on <span class=date_text>04-25-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:44 PM</span>

Firstly, there is no such thing as rat masters rage. The ability you refer to must be some kind of racial trait, and the cooldown timers for the regular enemy masteries are much much shorter than 15 minutes. The enemy mastery choices you get can be very helpful if you're fighting enemies of that type. For fighters (monks are based on the fighter archetype), the mastery ability for a given creature type is a buff that lasts for a decent amount of time (30 seconds to 1 minute or so, I forget how long exactly). That buff gives you a 25% chance to do extra damage if you're fighting the appropriate creature type. For example, if you choose orc masters rage and you activate it when fighting an orc, then for say, 30 seconds, you have a 25% chance to do extra damage to that orc. As you level up you get to choose more of these enemy mastery skills, each time for a different set of creature types. These skills aren't anything that will make or break your toon, you can never use them and do just fine, but they can help you do that extra bit of damage that you might need to win a tough named fight. They also can be used when you're soloing and just want to burn through monsters for quest updates or something. There is no right or wrong choice for these abilities, but people tend to pick certain ones just because certain creatures are way more common in EQ2 than other ones. Orcs are more common than gnolls, and you'll see orcs of all kinds throughout your characters life so Orc Masters Rage is a good one to choose that will be useful for a long time. Skeletons are by far the most common type of undead, so this is another one that will come in handy at all level ranges. Golems and Giants are also extremely common, but you will have to choose between one or the other and it doesn't matter which. Both types of creatures can be found all over. The rest are sort of situational until you get to Tier 7 where you can choose between Droag and Aviak ones. Here again are two very common types that you'll see all over the KOS zones. I took Droag because I tend to go places where there are lots of droags, but either is a good pick. In conclusion (this got far more wordy than I had planned originally), enemy masteries are handy skills that can help you out when you need a little bit of an edge, but they're nothing that will make or break you if you choose "the wrong one". <div></div>

<DIV>FYI: Golem and Giant are exclusive choices from two different levels. I currently have both.</DIV>
