Hi there,

I am pretty new to the game, and most times I solo. But I am finding that soloing sucks monkey [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] for xp. I must be doing something wrong, if so please enlighten me. I usually kill blues to yellows preferable solo mobs since I can usually kill them with a round of CAs. I get like 1% xp every 2 or 3 kills, is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I am level 27 now.

That's pretty good! .3 - .5% exp per kill is very good indeed!

Anjin

ok I guess ill keep grinding away, what is funny is that I dont get a show of xp a lot of the times, I will kill a mob, get no xp, kill another get no xp, kill a third get 1%. Whatever

you shouldnt complain about XP if you haven't even reached lvl 60++ yet.

Optimal solo xp is groups of 3 or more. not heroic groups, just solo ones.

That's funny, I was just telling a guildmate that I turned off my exp so that I could make more gold per level and be able to afford to buy or find masters by the time I got to the level I needed them for. Exp comes too fast if I keep it active. If I just get quest exp I'm just a little slower than I'd like. But at level 38 I have all my offensive CA's upgraded to master 1 except 2 and they are the next ones to be replaced. I will need them for when I start thinking about going after the next Gi, at like 45?

0.3 - 0.5% xp per mob is good actually, wait for 60+ then xp gets a bit tougher to solo.

I suggest you get another UI xp bar, then you see the actually xp in decimal places. Thor UI ftw!

soloing sucks anyways

I solo for two reasons, one I am on a pvp server and grouping isnt always an option. Two I have waiting 30 to 1 hour to get a group ready to xp then have it fall apart in 10 minutes when we get pked. So often times solo xp is the only option.

BigPig The Destroyer wrote:
soloing sucks anyways

I disagree with you there, but then again your entitled to your own opinion. But for me I enjoy it quite well, you have benefits to both soloing and grouping. As far as I'm concerned I like them both. I soloed 90% of my characters levels. Also another contributing factor to consider is doing quests. Quests may be boring and tedious at times, and yes we all know this, but the exp and returns are worth it in most cases where exp rewards are concerned, unless of course you choose to do a green con quest. There's my input. TTFN

Masuimi

i think that is what Tadashi meant by "for grinding xp", the second part of the sentence you made big & bold letters. content, quests, exploration is not "grinding xp".

My personal statement would be more like: Experience grinding is boring and tedious at times and I would never touch it with a 10 foot bo stick... I live in EQ2 for quests! Tailoring is the only thing I grind and that is only in small quantities. I'm like the poster above that thinks about a good point to turn off combat experience to do more questing and a little farming. AXP is one thing I want to see keep coming, those are interesting abilities one can play with.

If you're expecting XP to come as easily in EQ2 as it does in Wow, then yes you will be sorely dissappointed. I'll agree with you though, solo XP does suck. Personally I blew through the 30's by duo'ing heroics in dungeons and doing HQ's and other quests along the way. Even the 40's still seem to go pretty quick for me. I didn't really notice XP slow down (read: not move too fast for my tastes) until post 50. The rate XP moves in the 50's feels about right for me. Fast enough to feel I'm progressing, yet slow enough that I have time to complete quests before they turn green, explore the new zones before they grey out etc...If all you're concerned about is getting through the lvls as fast as possible, then you pretty much have to get a group -even a small 2 or 3 person group- and head indoors and kill heroics.

Do not even know why I bother figure I am beating a dead horse. But, solo grinding does work. Gear you have and spell upgrades makes a differnce. You need to have all Leg at a min to make super xp solo in my view. This is not hard to do as a monk due to leather being cheap. So farm /collect /harvest whatever you got to do to get there. Spend sometime on your toon and relize your not going to be all uber at solo and crap at 33. You still have alot to learn and well prob alot to farm. I recommend mixing some quests into your solo xp grind. Do this learn your class better and you can become a good mnk. If you complain already then I advise you to switch jobs or stop using the forums when your not going to take peoples advise. I mean WoW is totally solo friendly no matter what your gear is but its lame and has a bad community.

Do this and you will make fair xp solo.

<<<<SOLO will not be as fast as grouping>>>>

Go lfg while soloing. Also try to make some of your own groups. This might help you some.

kk its 4:01AM I am off to bed.......ZZzzzz.zzz.zzzzz............zz

Best thing to do when soloing is take that exp bar and bin it. Watching the bar is a bad idea even when grouping IMO, it makes it "seem" to take longer.

Just load up on quests and go kill and quest at the same time. Took me about 3 hours to complete level 42 today in Feerrott just doing the quest series there and few others I ended up with along the way.

I solo 90% of the time, I do quests too for the XP/coin/item/faction rewards which helps. I usually gain a level a session which is fast enough for me.
