As far as the CA's are concerned I am interested to find out what to Upgrade (ie: Adept 3 - Master I). So say your a monk and you've never purchased an Adept 3 or Master I. And your lvl 60, What CA's are a MUST to be adepted or master I. All suggestions and list will be appreciated. Just trying to figure out what to and not to upgrade. Thanks in advance.Masuimi

***DISCLAIMER*** The views expressed herein are merely my opinions and may reflect a slight bias towards the tanking Monk.

Stances get a lot of bang for the buck as they scale pretty well. These are always first on my list. Prioritize between the three based on how often you use each.

If you tank a lot, our three taunts are very important to upgrade. Stance, then single taunt, then group (i took master2 challenge at 64)

Tsunami, and Outer Calm... mucho importante.

Inner Calm mmmm power, damage, AND resists, all in one CA! - I took Master2

Also, if you tank a lot, your area attack (and dragonbreath at level 65) will help a lot for group and multi encounter aggro control. These are your first damage arts to upgrade.

'Will of' Line mmmmmm cures. Often overlooked, more and more important now that mobs use skills.

As far as the damage arts go, upgrade the ones you use the most first. The ones that stun/stifle/knockback/lower defense should come before the ones that just do damage, as you use these most.

The group haste and everburning haste lines are worth upgrading, but note how poorly they scale. For example, a Master1 eveburning level 46 skill, will have exactly the same stats as the adept3 for the level 60 everburning skill. Buy the cheaper of the two for your server, I lucked out and got the master skill for less then the pearl/vanadium would have cost for the adept3.

Ok, so as you can clearly see, they are all important and you want to get everything adept3 at least ASAP. Haha.

Message Edited by Rrawl on 04-06-200606:22 PM

well, since I tank a lot, my priority is my taunts, because right now, I can't hold aggro worth [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]. Even with dragon, def stance all that stuff, I almost always will lose aggro to a wiz or assassin, and once they get aggro then I can't get it back without using rescue... so my priority is my taunts.. now endgame, if you're raiding I'd imagine guilds will generally have monks on more of a dps role rather than a tank, but in either case I'd focus primarilly on stances as far as upgrades go. They're the most important thing you got skillwise.

I would say that Quiescent Blessing, Swift Calm, Spirit like Mountain, Everburning Blaze, Coiling Serpent, and Black Widow Stance are what you should shoot for.

Coiling serpent is huge for tanking and Queiscent blessing is huge for DPS.

Message Edited by nobunaga_x on 04-10-200612:38 PM

I never use anything but the defensive stance at least 80% if not more of the time. I'm usually tanking in the groups I am in and when I duo I'm tanking.

First I upgrade are my taunts, then stances, then arts. Plus I always try to get my FD at max as it saves a lot on repair

From Test Update #22

*** Gameplay ***- If you die within 2 minutes of unequipping an item, the item will still take damage to its condition.- The in-combat delay required to swap items has been reduced to 2 seconds.- Implied targeting will no longer work on players who are not in your group or raid.- Pets will no longer retain hate if you evac from an encounter

Now I've been tanking between defensive/offensive depending on the situation and the group set up and the Mobs that I'm tanking on. So the stance that is mid range of Offensive and Defensive is pretty reliable stance to tank in also eh.Wonder what other Monks are using vs different mobs/content/group set-up could offer on this subject. Would like to get an idea of what every one uses and when and how. Nice to see a poll of what stances monks are using and when. =) Thanks for the info Rrawl.Masuimi

I'm usually in hybrid stance. When solo, I am in hybrid, when tanking i'm usually in hybrid. In groups when i'm asked to dps, I go offensive. I rarely use my defensive stance except for named mobs or orange mobs.
