So I was toying around with some numbers last night curious just how high my mit can get to in OMG heal me situations. I know self buffed in a 'OMG' situation I have 2900 mit self buffed, 4910 mit short term for 30 secs and IF I had this skill, I could throw in another 1400 mit in those situations to essentially give me a grand total of self buffed mit of 6310. That doesnt factor in ANY group buffs that you'd have. Pretty outstanding that in OMG situations in a group setting that you can essentially cap BOTH mitigation and avoidance albiet short term with an ugly side effect of being rooted and stunned.I do know in a group with a zerker templar and conj that I was sitting just over 4k mit in defensive stance, so if im correct it appears that we can hit upwards of 7500 mit short erm in OMG situations. I don't know about the rest of the tanking monks out there but I sure do think that as spiky as damage is for monks this is probably the BEST counter we have available to the ugly RNG rolls we can sometimes take.Thoughts?

While there is validity to your points Selch, you're overstating how bad it is. While the root and stun affects are not insta-cast, they ARE insta-cancel, and I use them quite often. Though very rarely do I allow the Mountain Stance to remain in affect for the full duration. I'm probably going to take eagle shriek and test it out, as I usually end up tanking everything for my guild. Having said that I still don't have high hopes for my ability to MT T7 raids... only time will tell. (=

I'm not saying I'm trying to tank in critical mode all the time, im saying during the OMG heal me situations that arise that this appears to be a way to somewhat counter the spike damage critical HP situations that we run across more often than the plate tanks. I won't debate the ability of monks to tank T7 raid content or not, im just looking at this from a solo/group setting.

Speaking of OMG scenarios... Once in Lab of Lord Vyemm, we had a nasty pull and at one point, all three of our guardians died and there was one epic mob left, with pretty much full health. I threw in both my taunts (Challenge and Infuriating Calm), popped rescue and put on Mountain Stance. Throughout the remainder of that fight, I used Infuriating Calm whenever it came up and I held agro just fine as our raid force burned down the mob.

As far as I know, our taunts are just as good as any other tank's taunts, they just have a couple of extra things they can do (as do we, with our Dragon Stance line). Both of my taunts were Master I quality (generating over 1k hate each), as was Rescue, so as soon as I put my mit stances on, I already had about 6k hate on the mob. Then every time my single taunt came up, that was another 1k hate.

But to address the OP's question, I think it'd be handy, indeed. If it's passive, which I remember it being, then it should come up every time you dip low. If you think about Halls of Fate, if a CA lands on you, you'll get dropped below 30% (if not killed ), so having the extra mit would be nice, since the next hit from the mob probably won't be another huge CA, your increased mit should be able to absorb some extra dmg. If you're already in your mit stances, Eagle Shriek will put you at the mitigation cap, and if you stay in the stances for the duration of the fight (as I did in the example above), you should have plenty of time for healers to catch up.

TBH, though, this seems like it'd be better suited for soloin'. I'm sure you've been there, the mob's at 5%, you're at 10%... Mob hits you, you're down to 1% and it kills you just as you're about to deal the winning blow. I'd imagine this ability would eliminate that for the most part, since the mit will help you survive a little longer and the crits will help turn the tide in the fight. Don't get me wrong, if you're trying to solo an orange named mob, I don't think this will do much for ya.

This is all theory, though, so it might still prove to be useless I was kinda bummed out about Altruism, so this may/may not be different.
